Hello guys, I was playing a match last Wednesday and was facing against a offspin bowler. Im a legspin bowler myself so I has no problem judging what type of ball he was going to bowl. Just before he delivered the ball, I could see it was going to be a off-break so I decided to try and defend. I got my foot out to the pitch of the ball but when it pitched it went between the gate and clipped the off stump? Have you got any ideas on how to correctly choose which shot to play? By the way, how do you guys tend to play in a match; aggresively, defensivley? I want to become a top order batsmen but at the moment, Im showing no signs of improvment? Any help would be highly appreciated

If you were bowled through the gate then you were probably playing with your bat away from your pad.
Try to open out towards the leg side so the ball turns on to the line where the bat can swing in a straight line towards the ball. Make sure your head and hands end up over the ball, and make contact with the ball forwards of the front pad, letting the ball come to you like this: ![]() This position allows you to drive or work the ball into the on side hitting with the full face of the bat. You will score easy runs against spin and progress your game. Practice hard! |

In troubled times, being philosophical helps a great deal, it helps you to remain sane and not do any further damage.
