Topic: Requesting for your password Posted: 19 June 2007 at 1:29pm |

About a week ago, my friend played a joke on me. He went on the forum, went to the 'forgot my password' link and he typed in my user name. He knows my email. So when I tried logging in, I couldn't. I started to panic. So I went to the forgot my password link and I requested for my password. I checked my email inbox and it was empty. I realised I had blocked the cricketword email address...so I unblocked it and I got my password back. Is there a way where you can change this? So then I don't have to go through all that trouble again.

I'm confused. What are you asking me to change? Your password?

I think he means something like a security question when you ask for your password.

Security questions, good idea or not, can't be implemented by me.
In any case, if you let others access your own email and computer then you're asking for trouble.

I think I know what he means. If a friend knows your username on Cricket World Forum and your email address then that friend could use the forgot my password link. This means that a new password is issued to the email address and even though the friend doesn't know what the email password is, the password that crownmethod chose wouldn't work. Then he has to go check his inbox for the new password and it wastes a lot of time. This could be a problem espically for those with email address in your member profile.

Is that so hard to do - sign in to your inbox?

In troubled times, being philosophical helps a great deal, it helps you to remain sane and not do any further damage.
