Sledger i think i remember reading about the scots comming to wembly in 1977? They won 2-1 and they invaded the pitch after the whistle and took the goaly box apart and dug up half the field as a souvenier, hahaha is that true or have i got a different team,You may be on to something with this rivalry,as like Pak and India,so to was eng and scot at war but back in 1300 and 1400 years, now that is history,i believe it is only in the last 25 years they have become cival and realised they are all british after all. Just as a footnote would i be close in saying that the USA would be the country most teams at any sport would love to beat for the arrogance they appear to show all other sporting nations? I mean they call the baseball and gridiron and basketball, world series but no other bugger gets to play init hahahaha, just on that, are they the 3 worst sports in the world,i can watch some basketball but im buggered if i can understand the other 2 .
Let's just keep it to cricket, or at least sport please - I've deleted your description of what happened last night, it wasn't relevant at all my friend!! JP

Canada and U.S are rivals in ice hockey. i have seen i think the 2000 (not sure of the year) olympic finals between Canada and US, and i think here is how the game went. Canada scored the first point. US scored 2 points straight in a row, canada scored another point and the game was tied at 2-2. US scored anther point, 3-2. Canada scored 5 points in a row and US lost 7-3, and US didn't manage to score a single point until the end... well by the time canada had scored 5 points in a row, i think it was already near the end of the game.
now i'm not sure that's how the game went, but i think i'm close.

You're dead right John , Ray Clemence allowed a feeble shot from Liverpool teammate Kenny Dalglish to go through his legs and we lost 2-1 !! They dug up the entire pitch and stole the goalposts too - savages!!
Oh , and don't believe the rivalry has diminished - not a bit of it - beating the hell out of the Jocks is still fantastic!!
....and to pacify JP and chat on a cricket related topic.......Scotland are crap !!!

What about soccer. I've heard that Brazil and Argentina are rivals in soccer though i'm not sure if this is true.

Oh and in baseball, my home team The Toronto Blue Jays and The New York Yankees are big time rivals. people love watching a match between these 2 fierce rivals.
PS. i hate baseball, i only sometimes watch the blue jays play. though i have never watched a complete baseball game and i hope i never will because base ball is the most boring sport in the history of sports.

I see you're living in the US. Fitting, that , your cricket knowledge is on a par with the average Yank.

Good call sledger.

My two favourite Batsmen:
Jacques Kallis is a very solid but destructive batsmen and not to mention he can bowl as well.
I also like Michael Clarke for his amazing batting talent at such a young age
