Topic: Sachin closing in on 14 000 ODI runsPosted: 19 November 2005 at 2:01am |

Sachin Tendulkar is a great batter and has already accomplished himself as the best batter since Donald Bradman. He has the most test centuries along with Sunil Gavaskar, he has the most ODI centuries. He has great averages in both forms of the game. He has the most ODI runs. He will eventually have the most test runs and I can gurantee it. So Sachin is an extraordinary batsman. Now, he is closing in on 14000 ODI runs. What an achievement it will be for him. He only needs 125 more ODI runs. He might accomplish that before this India/SA series is over. This man is in a class of his own.

First off all, you talk of him being old as if he's 50. He 32 so he's got atleast 3 years ahead of him if he can get himself back together, he could become greater then he already is.
You are right that he doesn't bat as well as he use to in the 90s. But he can still get back in form and accomplish some more things. Lastly, Sachin Tendulkar was never an all-rounder. He is a useful bowler when it comes to bowling the last bowler of an ODI, but he was never a "great" all-rounder. The reason why he has the most appearences in International cricket is because he made his debut aged only 16. It doesn't matter that he has the most International appearences, because as long as he's not too old to play, he should continue playing. Edited by saadadvanced7 |

Yeah Sachin still has still about 5 years to go. Even though he is
still in a rebuilding phase at the moment following his injury, once he
finds his form he will be back at his best. In the final game against
South Africa in Mumbai even though he just made 30, some of the shots
he played together with Sehwag were absolutely beautiful. I wouldn't be
surprised if he gets 50 ODI hundereds.

I have put a bit not interesting facts ,,, but ture Even in India ,, about 10 to 15 % say against Sachin Things like these are often discussed "Sachin of yerster years is gone " , "old sachin cant come back" ,"Sachin's time is over as a batsman" ,"Sachin will never play like he used to " ,"Some say he should retire ". Well it is something like this ,, for the past 16 years ,, every year he has been performing ,,, Now even if sachin has a moderate series like anyone else ,,, it gets noticed as a bad form. People want him to score 100 every 3 innings. There has been other talk about ,,, "Sachin dosent win matches, he plays only for record " Let me ask this question ,,,How many times the openers like Gibbs , Gilchrist,Jayasurya,Marcus teskothik , ***le , Astle or any openers bat throught the innings to hit Winning runs. Some food for thought for everyone who think "Sachin is not a match winner" The main problem is ,,, "when sachin hits good knock, ppl don't notice it bcoz he is SACHIN , but the same ppl speak it out thousand times when he dosen't" |

Sachin didn't have a moderate series, he had a bad series. He is in poor form right but is a great batter and has time to improve.

Poor choice of phrase Saad , Tendulkar doesn't need to IMPROVE , he just needs to find his form. At his best , he's simply glorious and he will get there again , of that I'm certain. |

Yea, well, that's what I meant. I know Sachin is a great batter. He doesn't need to improve, "he just needs to find his form," and I am also sure that he will find his form.

Sachin Tendulkar has broken the record for most test centuries. He has broken the long standing record of Sunil Gavaskar.

I doubt he will be here for another 5 years. It seems that he can't find form so I think he will retire in another 2 years.

Oh. Well, I've already changed that on the request of my Pakistani brother Shan.
We will see just how Sachin does against Pakistan in the ODIs. I am not expecting much from him so I won't be surprised if he gets a total of 50 runs in the series. Edited by saadadvanced7 |

Oh come on. I'm being truthful. Sachin has been in poor form and I doubt that he will find his form in the ODI series...I have very low expectations for him so I won't be surprised IF he goes for 5 or 10 or 20 every match. |

i know he is not in a great form but only 50. isnot that too low ?. i think he can easily pass 50 in those one dayers. how about if he hit 20 in 3 matches , he could easily pass the 50 runs mark.

Today, in the first ODI between Pakistan and India, when Sachin was on 91, he became the first ODI batsman to pass 14000 ODI Runs. He hit his 39th ODI century and reminded all his doubters (includes me) that he is indeed one of the best ever. Great job Sachin.

Really, he reached his 14000 ODI runs with a superb century, though he was bowled out once by Rana on a no ball. He is really back in form. |

Krisdy, i think its a lil bit bad luck that mostly he plays superbly makes a century and despite that India loses the game, how unfortunate. Yet his innings are worth watching when he scores.

Who on earth is 100 times better bowler than Shoaib? Would u mind telling me please. And yes, Sachin is a great player, no doubt about it, though he had a bad test series against Pakistan with a meagre average of just above twenty. All he needs is to get back in form and thats it. He is a master batsman, so don't anyone write any crap about him. Give him the due respect. |

And there is another fact about pace, all batsmen fear pace whether they admit it or not. How on earth a person will feel comfortable facing a rocketing delivery coming right on to him at a sheer pace of 155+????????

Exactly! Every batsman fear pace...the difference is that some are confident and talented enough to play it while others get clean bowled because they can't handle it.
