What I feel is that Mohammed Akram in his debut against SL might have bowled 100mph+ as he hit Aravinda de Silva few times. No bowler in history has done it other than Mohammed Akram and Andrew Flintoff (of course Aravinda was quite old then). Not even Malcom Marshall, Patrik Patterson, Brett Lee or Akthar himself because Aravinda had a liking to very fast bowling. Recall his assaults on Wasim Akram, Waqar, Brett Lee, Ntini, Donald, Walsh and Amrose.
The second instance was Mohammed Zahid,in 1994 I think, at Perth, Bowling to Lara in Carlon and United Series final where the ball was flying at off while Lara's backlift was in half way. (Eventually he hit Lara on gloves off viciously fast and bouncy lifter. Pak made 117 odd and Wi was all out below 100) I think these two may be the fatest bowling performances in recent times. |

Tell you what though, 100MPH that's sharp. I still think it's amazing just how fast some people can bowl.

Its depends on the technique a person has or the arm movement. You can bowl that fast if you that kind of techiniques and good trainer.

Yeah, still though, they say it's a batsmans game now, 100Mph is just scary, especially if it was a bouncer.

What a relevant thread, Sami might have broken quite a few things while he was growing up, and on the way may have broken the fastest balls,s record. But so far in this season he has broken hearts of all his fans by his pathetic, aimless bowling. Infact for once I would love to hear what his greatest supporter Imran khan has to say about his latest performance in england!

Exactly Wisey! Sami has never been the most brilliant in Pakistani pace attack. Now I don't want to go harsh on him, but he is an isolated sort of bowler, having no interaction with the things happening around.

Brett Lee's quickest delivery is 99.9 mph I think. And that bowled Marvan Attapattu (I think) Or so it said on a show I was watching on tele. Can't remember what it's called though.

Since this thread is already of topic,
I would like ask a question: If baseball pitchers released the ball after running like bowlers do in cricket, would it go more than 99.9 mph? Some pitchers can throw 95-98 mph. |

Sami is not a thinking bowler who wants to get wickets ,all he thinks while running in is how fast can I bowl this delivery ,he will never be successful with uch an attitude !

You hit the nail on the head there dips. He never really looks like he's thinking where he should put the next ball to trouble the batsman. He's also lost his pace from a shorter run up.

Infact Sami was the most promising when Shoab was everywhere, something horrible happened to that Sami we all know, this one even struggles to pitch a straight ball, a big big slump in form and its not getting any better unfortunately, he has been tried almost for three series, but to same result.

What i know is that sami always concentrate on his pace.So im not surprised if he has beaten the record.
He has alsoo got unlucky bcz many times the fieldsmen drop the catches or something else happens so thats y he's not that succesfull like shoaib or other bowlers. |

Luck only favours the brave and I dont see Sami showing any aggression in his approach, I think he has lost all confidence in him. Actually he was always considered second to Shoab, But Navid out performed him in India, and later on Mohammad asif stole all the limelight from almost everyone else, so Sami has been very very low on confidence, and I dont see even Waqar younis having an impact on his lost form.

Come on man dont't underestimate tresco and strauss, both good enough to face any bowlers at their best! Infact I rate them as one of the best oppening pair for england for some time.

Yes with the form he is in probably even Rao iftikhar will outperform him, I dont know what has happened to him,it would be a great loss to pakistan , he is a rare bowler, with effortless bowling action and genuine speed.

It's a shame we havn't seen Shoaib in the England-Pakistan series. Though I'm an England fan I would have loved to have watched hi destroy us.

I just watched him play cricket for a Birmingham 3rd division club side. He is bowling much slower than usual even though he did look good. He took 2 wickets.
