Shane Bond - Wheres he gone???

Well here is his run down, he had back problems since a teen, proberly from trying to bowl too fast, so he gave up cricket after his 3 or 4 stress fracture in his spine.

Then he became a Police officer, during his training he got really strong and start bowling again. he played in England for abit, in first grade cricket were he broke the record for the most wickets in a season. Then he returned back to New Zealand to finish his police training and continued to play cricket.

After awhile he made it to the black caps and dominated the 2001-02 VB series in australia. But he got a stress fracture in his foot and missed 6 months of cricket.

He return to smash the west indies (the first time NZL had beaten the WI in WI) and got man of the series. then he did the same to the indians and was one of the best bowlers in the world cup.

But after, he got another stress fracture in his back and missed the rest of the 2003 season. He tried to return for the england tour of 04, but devolped another stress fracture.

The only way to play again was to have massive back surgery in Australia. It seem his back wasn't gonning to heal by itself due to perment damage, so they took bone off his hip, stuck it on the damage vertebre and bolted this spin back together. he miss all of 04 and most of 05 recovering.

He start bowling again at the start of 05 and play international cricket again agaist Zimbabwa, where he was man of the series in both the test matches and the tri odi with india.Then he played agaist south africa in a few ODI's, but didn't do very well.

Right before New Zealand were about to play australia in the chappel-hadlee matches, he pinged a hammy in training and didn't play the three matches. Also I heard he was a bit sick.

Next be did well agaist Sri Lanka in the odi's and agaist the West Indies in the tests and odi's picking up a few MOM, but he hurt his knee in the west indies test.

He try to recover for the test in south africa, but he couldn't, now his knee is 100% his back is in perfect, and were waiting to see how he does in the icc trophy. hopefully he stays fit for the VB series and the World cup.

I wish i could go back in time to tell me to drink more milk as a kid, his bones must be brittle.

Firstly about Butler, i heard on the radio that after the massive blow out his spine had last season, he is going to bowl slower and work on his batting....such a waste of talent.

As for bond, susposedly he has had a knee injury niggle, but is near fully fit and should be roaring in for the Champions Trophy.

He's more injury prone than Simon Jones!

Very good record, seen him play maybe twice as he was injured for their last tour here.

Anyways , Shane Bond , New Zealand needs him badly. A Deadly bowler and Aus proved to be the worst to suffer from him. A strike rate of 38 in tests with an average of 21.53 and average 4.47 wkt per match from 14 matches. A strike rate of 26 in ODI's with an average of 18.63 and average 1.93 wkt per match from 45 matches.

I remember that world cup performance 6/23 against and that was pure class. Seeing those aussies stumps rattled from share pace made me laugh. Its the best ODI bowling display I've seen in my life.

His chronic back problems just don't seem to be going away. I can't believe NZ overbowled him after his comeback , but he didn't last a single test match here in SA in April.

It's tragic , he really is a classy bowler and NZ lack penetration when he's absent , let's hope he's back very soon.

All other bowlers struggle against AUS than other countries except Vettori and Bond.

As I can remember he has his top two or three performances against AUS. (correct me if I am wrong.)

Argubly no other bowler has disturbed Austrailia as him in past few years.

Shane Bond is a delight to watch, especiallt bowling to Aussies, where he brings out his best. If he is fit, he has the potential to become worlds best bowler

I hope you all remember him! Hes a new zealand fast bowler with a brilliant smooth action. Hes one of the only guys i lurve wathcing bowl and take wickets, evne if its against australia!

what has happened to him? i heard he has had lots of injuries, but he should come back? or hit the news at least!

anyone know what has happened to him?
