Sachin Tendulkar is back after the tennis-elbow injury with a fantastic inning. But his game plan has completely changed. He is playing over cautiously. He is getting out for even not so good deliveries. Is it not the time for him to come down the batting order(2 down)?

You're obviously talking of one dayers Anil as he always bats at 4 in test matches. I'd leave him at the top of the order - he has changed a little , but the rest of the hitters can bat around him. He still scores quickly , although not as explosively as the likes of Sehwag and Dhoni.

I'd say he's still the most reliable batsman in the side along with Dravid .

This side has structure and each player has a specific role - Tendulkar's is to bat as much of the 50 as he can - if he does , India will make a very large total.

Yes. I agree that he is most reliable batsman and if he can bat 50 overs India will make a large total. But Gautam Gambhir is a better option to open the innings with Sehwag as the left and right combination has got an edge in getting quicker and lengthy  partnerships. Tendulkar, the best batsman in the world, is  enough flexible to bat at any position.

From an opposition's viewpoint , I'd like Sachin batting at # 11 !!!       The longer he sits waiting to bat , the happier the opposition are! Unlike in a test match where you protect your best player , the modern game is to get him out there first. Gambhir is good , Sehwag can be brilliant but Tendulkar has no peer.

But for the last two years(after the match against Pak in World cup) Tendulkar could not score big when India needed to chase a huge total. He is getting out in crunch time. I agree, he surely is the best batsman world has ever seen. I hope scoring in innings(while chasing) is more worth and important than the one while batting first.

"the best batter the world has ever seen" I disagree anilkumarbpl. He is the best batter today but the best batter ever was Donald Bradman. Sachin Tendulker is a great batter but seems to be losing his great form right now.

Bradman is the best. The conditions he played were entirely different. But Sachin is considered as the best player of modern era. Even Bradman commended Sachin of his outstanding knocks.

yea, I know that. Bradman said that Sachin is his modern incarnation or something. And i certainly agree with you that Sachin is the best batter of the modern era. You're also right about the fact that Bradman played in different conditions, but the statistics show that he was the best batter ever.
