I think so. His downfall starts from beginning of this Century. He is not at all that Tendulkar we saw in 90s.  Surprisingly no one has the dare to make comments about his batting faultiness. I think this is one of the major reason for his downfall. In all these years he struggled to play strokes on offside. I hardly saw a productive cover drive from him. Now he makes some silly excuses for his poor performance. I remember one famous proverb: A bad workman blames his tools”. This is the story with Tendulkar. I think his presence may prove costlier for India in the next World Cup. I am damn sure he is not going to be dropped from the team for any reason. No one has the guts to do that(Wink). For the benefit of the team he should say good bye to international cricket

I disagree with you there, I don't think now is the beginning of his downfall. He's just out of form at the moment, and he will probably get it back at some point. You can't just drop somebody for being out of form like Sachin is at the moment, he'll need time in the side to find his feet again and regain his touch. He only came back from a long-term injury 3 months ago so it's natural he'll need time to fit back in to the squad.

As for retiring for the benefit of the team, I think it's completely the opposite. I think if Tendulkar retired it would seriously compromise the Indian squad. There are several youngsters in the side who have Sachin to look up too and as a role model. Without him in the side you lose somebody of his calibre and you probably lose matches too.
How many batsmen average 45 in ODI cricket?
How many batsmen have scored 40 ODI centuries?
How many batsmen have scored 14000 ODI runs.

If Tendulkar retired just before the World Cup then the Indian cricket team would be nowhere.

I disagree, davj. Sachin is finding his shoes again, his scores are atleast ALOT more consistant then they were when he was carrying that tennis elbow injury. He still has it in him, a great player will always fight during a form slump and end up on top.

If Tendulkar was dropped, everyone in India would be rioting.

You're an expert at that, 70DS! Tongue LOL

Answer is a blatant no. People like Sachin and Lara still draw the crowds in and they're good for the game.

Tendlukar's average still scares bowlers to death. So he clearly hasn't just let it go...

What if after retiring from cricket Sachin decides to become a serial killer with a long list of targets? davj, guess who's on the top?

Everyone has to retire one day, but the what's the approperiate place for someone calling Sachin a Bad Workman, I can only think of insane asylums.

If anything I think Tendulkar seems to be rediscovering his old form. He hit 100 from just 76 balls in his last ODI (which is amazingly Tendulkar's third fastest ODI century) and today he hit 105 from just 129 balls in the Indian first class domestic trophy final. Yes, he struggled last year in International cricket but once he finds his touch he will be a very difficult batsman to remove even if he has played for over 17 years and seems to be getting old.

Today every is saying RICKY PONTING is the best batsman in the world and it's dead true.

BUt folks 5 five years ago, no one was talking about Ponting at all, why?
In the 90's no one ever talked about Ponting retiring. It just shows he can't get rid of a great batsman because he is having a bad patch. If the AUstralian coach and selectors was thinking like some of you guys on this forum, 5 years ago ponting would of been out of the squad and you guys could of never be saying today POnting is the best in the world.

Just give Tendulkar a chance, he be back in the top 3 spots soon.

He'll be dominating the World Cup again, just like four years ago.

The most foolish topic I have probably seen on cricket World. Lara has gone through a bigger slump than Sachin and I haven't seen a topic saying "should lara retire". Remember when Lara went through a slump in the caribbean against India and demolished PAK. The same is imminent for the "little master" -  the most gracious batsman of my time. Lara in 2000 average 43 in ODI's but now it's 41. I happens but Lara average has gone up in tests though by 2.
In troubled times, being philosophical helps a great deal, it helps you to remain sane and not do any further damage.

And when you take into account that he averaged 32 in the World Cup at a strike rate of 110 when the batsmen averaged 31.56 on total, you will see that he still scored above the average rate of the other batsmen in the Indian team.

Plus I see that you were banned on your old account so you may just be banned again.
