I'd take Peter Bowler or Piran Holloway right now, our middle-order desperately needs shoring up. ![]() |

We won inside two days.
Wow. Shocking pitch though, not helped by flooding before the game. We'll take the points though. |

Good news for JP and the other (!) Somerset supporter in England .Great grandad , Justin Langer is set to replace Dan Cullen , who's on Australia A duty.
He should be arriving at the end of this month , but it will only be a short term contract. It's likely he'll be back for the whole of next season , as his chances of playing in the world cup are as likely as JP getting a call from Fletcher! Edited by Sledger |

Having restriced Middlesex to 215 in our latest C & G game, we're making it look like 415, and have stumbled to 186/8 with 4 overs to go. Durston is still there, and has previous, but he needs the bowlers to stick around and let him do his stuff.

Poor old Wesley, couldn't quite push us over the finish line, losing as we did by 3 runs.

Yes, sounded like quite a game but after a good start, we just collapsed, leaving Durston with too much to do at the end.
He's one of many young players who are learning the hard way that getting runs in county cricket on a consistent basis is not easy - hopefully him, along with Hildreth, Suppiah and others will learn and push on in the future. |

Langer hits a double hundred against Surrey.
All of a sudden, our top order is looking like, well, a top order again. |

Doesn't Guildford have insanely small boundaries?

Great record breaking knock by Justin Langer! He batted 10 hours 18 minutes and faced 416 balls for a massive 342! That score became the highest ever by a Somerset player , beating Viv Richards' 322.
The old man just gets better and better and is a credit to Australia and the game of cricket. He's a real professional and seems to try just as hard whether it's for his country or some apple farmers!! Pity though , he was just one hit away from the highest ever score by an Australian in England. And NO , that wasn't Bradman , it was Charlie McCartney , with a score of 345. |

I know JP has now abandoned ship of this thread having been humiliated twice in a week by the kings that are Leicestershire, but lo! I bring glad tidings....I have heard a whisper that next year you yokels shall be enjoying the sublime batsmanship of one Mohammed Yousef

Who needs Yousuf when we have Hildreth. Well, something like that anyway. I'd heard we might be getting Langer again, we've resigned White, Steffen Jones is coming back, as well as a young bowler from Durham and somebody else. |
