A paltry turn out for the 1st T20 yesterday and a pretty poor match too.  Incredibly shabby wicket which had all batsmen floundering , but they'll be no comeback from the ICC. I can only think it'll be even worse today!
The SA selectors must have cringed at the 5 wicket haul of Ryan McClaren , who was left at home for the T20 World Cup !!  So 1-0 up , but they're really two pretty weak sides at the present time - both sides need to shape up!

That stadium is in the middle of nowhere Sledger.  Blame the WC for that, with some rule that the stadium shouldn't be located in a 50ft radius of any rival company to the sponsors of the WC I think.  So, that's how we've come about the Sir Vivian Richard Stadium instead of the historic Antigua Recreation Ground!

And yes, the pitch was very poor.  Still I'd rather that than the load of gibberish I get to play on on weekends!

me too Milky... I'm desperate to see some tests and ODI's... even the thought of T20's is putting me to sleep!

RSA beat WI 2-0 in the 2 match T20I series. WI still searching for good results.

Deonarine did some slow running while Sammy on the other hand did some Usain Bolt sprinting.  There is no one with more heart in the West indies team than Daren Sammy.  Only if he had the talent of a Bravo etc....  He's just like Collingwood, pure heart, hard work and determination.

South Africa look too strong in all departments for the West Indies at the moment - Amla and de Villiers stroking centuries in the opening ODI and the home side responding by calling up Dale Richards.

I can't imagine he's there as a specialist drinks carrier so surely he will replace Andre Fletcher at the top of the order.

I've mentioned it in another thread, but the West Indies need Samuels back and I never understood why his Jamaican team-mate Shawn Findlay wasn't given more of a run in the team.

Team selection for both of these sides makes little sense JP , I think both are way off the pace at the moment. Yes , AB and Amla (who's been terrific in all forms for a year or so) apart , the SA batting isn't that brilliant either.  All in all , I think I've been watching 2nd rate cricket - which is why I've been switching it off.
The series is crying out for some Gayle magic.

Chanderpaul has been quiet for a while now. He was one of the best couple years back, hasn't had a decent run of late. Injuries have taken it's toll and he's never been that fit.

Daren Sammy was on fire yesterday and I missed it but got to see the highlights nonetheless, was some excellent power hitting.  Poor West Indies, not even a blinder of a knock couldn't win them a game.

JP, West Indies is far better off without Findlay.  They're better off playing me than him!

I think Daren Bravo is better than some of the players currently in this team.

Daren Bravo and Kraigg Braithwaite are the 2 names to lookout for.  In the meanwhile, Chesney Hughes has scored a ton for Derbyshire, his maiden first-class ton.

Omari Banks is a handy cricketer. Bowls tidy spin and can wield the bat. WI are pretty limited with talent at times because of such a small pool of players and competition from other sports. They have always been very athletic, had a couple of good batsmen and a couple of fast bowlers, they need to find that again. I have a lot of faith in this Kemar Roach fella, he looks like he has a very good head on his shoulder and is very fast. If you can get Taylor, Edwards and Roach all fit in one side, with the handy exploits of Suleiman Benn then you'd have a formidable bowling line up in any form of the game. And of course, you can't neglect Bravo's medium-fast bowling, which has troubled even the best of batsmen. 5 very good bowlers, and that will win games.

Hughes has a British passport, so expect him to be in the England side before too long. Wink

Daren Bravo has been called up to the Windies side along with Dave Bernard to replace the injured Sarwan and Miller.  Bravo jnr has been in good form for the A team but i'm always worried about form is temporary!

Good to see Darren Bravo back in... RSA 2-0 up and a word on both Amla and Devillers... they have emerged as south africa's best players during the last one year.

4-0 !   Is there a coach anywhere on the planet capable of getting this Windies lot into something approaching a proud and passionate team again? I don't think there is - they're on the slippery slope to oblivion,

It gets funnier and funnier each day - Gayle apparently sent Benn off the field for not doing what he asked him to do.  Me go back Gayle here, Benn has a bad attitude.  Time to play tough and call out the players, maybe that might be the shake up they need.

5-0 whitewash in favour of south africa. Getting whitewashed at home is as shameful as it can get for the Windies really. I'd love to see them turn this around in the test series but it all looks highly unlikely. WI need to do a lot of hard work to even start competing with teams like Australia and South Africa. At the moment their cricket is in serious trouble and I do sympathize with Spinny and their fans but what is important is to continue supporting the team and be very very patient.

Ok, the winless windies got whitewashed in their own backyard against SA for the 3rd consecutive time.  Seriously, since I start to remember Cricket, SA has thrashed Windies more badly than anyteam I can remember.  It's whitewash after whitewash after whitewash.

Before this series started, I thought they would do better in the test series but Barath and Sarwan is out injured so maybe i'll have to rethink that and Jerome Taylor as well - he just can't keep fit!

Bundled out for 102 in reply to RSA's 352, WI are going from bad to worse or perhaps even lower than that! Superb bowling by Morne Morkel and Dale Steyn, I'm still wondering why Morne was dropped from the south african side last year? He is such a fine talent! Dale STeyn has reached 200 test wickets in just 39 tests!!!

Dale Steyn just simply takes wicket haul for fun nowadays - such a fine bowler!

Windies lower order for once entertained and I like Shillingford's addition to the team, the guy can bat as well!  And he'll keep Benn in check to perform.

The 2nd test strolling to a draw after the 5th century of the match. I've said it before , but I'll say it again - pitches offering nothing to the bowlers need digging up and the curator needs flogging!

For West Indies sake, they better hope that Barbados is a road and not its typical self because the hostility that Morkel and Steyn is bowling with, even on a "road", a lot of batsman better start taking dancing classes to prepare for that Test.

Been saying it for a long time Sledger, you're spot on. These batting wickets are pathetic and are just batting average boosters. Such a joke. This is probably the reason why I loved Pakistani cricket in the 90s, the only team in the world who could win without ever posting 350!

Like I said 'ever'. They never made 350 !! They won so often posting scores in the 200s. Once the score goes past 400 these days I turn the TV off.
