Well, it can become effective if you've bowled a few leggies on off stump and then you slip it in. It also depends how much your googly turns; if you can only turn it from, say, middle and off - leg then it can be more effective, but I get your point.

I hate the flipper. I can bowl it but I have no idea where its going and it goes at about 20 mph. The slider is more than enough at our level though I find the top spinner twice as easy to be honest. For the googly i have taken a few wickets when it pitches on off stump and spun to hit leg. My googly doesn't spin that much, it overspins a lot though.

My googly took most of my wickets last year but that's partly because I switched to being a leggie 3/4 of the way through the season. LOL

Yeah I know but what I meant was that for 3/4 of the season I bowled the googly as my stock ball, then I switched.

Cool. Does White bowl as his normal  toppie, or does he use the Warne version too?

I wasn't trying to, if you bowl googly after googly, bowling a conventional Warne type toppie is going to be detectable, but if you bowl it so it comes out the back of the hand like a googly then it's very well disguised and can bring you more success.

the toppie is just a leg break except you make the seam point forwards but apart from that you do exactly the same thing

The top spinner is gripped the same way as the leggie orthodoxly. The action is practically the same except for the the angle of the wrist/hand and arm for some.

This is so frustrating, you hold it like a leg break, use the same method of spinning the ball except you make the ball spin forward. Understand?

It wouldn't be complicated if you explained it alot easier, so he can understand.

You face the thumb towards the batsman and bring the wrist over the top, and the seam will be pointing towards the batsman in flight.
