Topic: Sri Lanka in Australia - 2010 Posted: 30 October 2010 at 2:41pm |
Although I have no idea as to what kind of a bilateral series is this with no matches, 1 T20 and 3 ODI's. It is int'l cricket and we need a thread for this. Having said that it should be an interesting one. SLN are a competative unit and have already done will in the warm up games. AUS after their winless tour of India would be eager to get things on track before the Ashes and the World Cup. Sun Oct 31

SL has started the tour with a good note. They thrashed Queensland in the 50 over game and won comfortable in the T20 with NSW.
SL ha sto play two spinners and one has to open the bowling to Watson and Warner. Mathews' fitness is a big concern. Should not risk him IMO.
My side for today: Dilshan, Jayawardane, Sangakkara, Chandimal, Kapugedara, J. Mendis, Perera, Randiv, Malinga, Murali, Fernando
Three spinners should pose a challenge to Aussies, considering two of them are class acts.

Australia have struggled their way to 133 and had it not been for Smith and Haddin they might as well would have folded up for 70 or 80! Excellent bowling from the Lankans on the bouncy Perth wicket and they do have a chance if they can see Nannes through!
Interesting to note that Watson was the only Queenslander in the Aussie XI which had 6 Victorians and 4 New South Wales players! Now there's some domination for you!

Randiv made a mess of Australia in the T20 WC, seems like he relived that here. Good win for the lankans!

Australia thrashed, serious concerns now before the Ashes, although their test side will be entirely different.
Well done Sri Lanka, these are great signs ahead of the WC.

Yup correct Hammond SL are just too strong why play test series? no need to play we all know SL would win easily 3/0.

well AUS seriously need to get back on winning track tomorrow, A full strength side barring Ponting for the 1st game should normally win but then again SLN have looked good. Should be a cracker!

Australia 117-4 after 27 overs with no-one passing 50. Clarke didn't get 30 and is really struggling. Mike Hussey at the crease with Shaun Marsh - crucial stand here and SL will be happy with how it's going. Australia's aura hasn't dimmed , it's disappeared.

So 239-8 after 50 overs with Hussey unbeaten on 71. That's at the MCG as well , where 2's are very common , the outfield being so vast. No idea where the rope was , but there weren't that many boundaries in the innings. 239 looks a midrange total for a team sitting midrange in the rankings , I fancy SL will get there and make it 6 straight losses in all forms for the home side.
Lose and they'll be more than desparate !!

Wonder if there have been many innings of 71 not out with just one boundary. I think it will be a tight game.

Surely msut have heard Cloud number nine. And this is where the SRL team must be right now. Incredible is the word. Worries for Australia. What a partnership that was. Never thought they would pull it off from 8 down. The Three M's doing the trick in the end - what a come back. there have been few better than this one.

I'm actually now at a point that I feel sorry for the Australia team - who would have thought that because all my life growing up, I always wanted the Aussies to lose, i'm starting to feel sorry for the bunch, especially Micheal Clarke.

Clarke is not the smartest of skippers around. But then again, not every other day you see a crazy partnership like this. What a week this has been for one day cricket though. Three absolute thrillers - two of them amongst the all time great matches. Who wants T20.

Where I am they've cut off analog, and I didn't get digital for this match, the reception was crap.
So I missed out on it too, a real pity.

Crazy batting yesterday from Malinga and Mathews! I watched the entire 100 overs and I consider myself lucky to have watched such a game of ODI cricket! 50 over cricket is still very much alive! You at least remember the thrilling ODI's and the Tests but not the T20's! I pity Australia and Michael Clarke! Wish Ponting had been there. I just love his expression when his team loses!

Aussies(the way they lost the match) are showing signs of Pakistan. Malinga is a BOwler ok we should give credit to Malinga but what Australia was doing there i mean their bowling is ridiculous.
An exciting week for ODI cricket, 1st two matches of PAK vs SA and now this one.

Mathews and Malinga somehow pulled it through but, SL should have got their with 5 wickets down. SL middle order should be ashamed in the way they played Doherty. Malinga just showed that even a No 10 can dominate him.
SL needs to get rid of the passengers, namely Tharanga. Kulasekara is a good bowler but flat SCG track demands different kind of bowlers. So Fernando should have the nod ahead of him. My XI for SCG ODI
Dilshan, Mahela, Sanga, Chandimal, Silva, Mathews, Perera, Randiv, Malinga, Murali, Fernando
