Bloody hell!! Incredibly cheap!! I hope the senseless ones and them who did it for the WC will see a massive change in the crowds and say to themselves "we made a mistake".

It's fantastic value and I hope the ICC takes note - full grounds will make the matches a "must-see" event , bloody exciting!

I just had a crazy thought (nothing unusual there).  What if the ICC doesnt really mind that the WC was a shambles? And are trying really hard to make the T20 WC a huge success, so they can shift from ODIs to T20 sooner than they planned to have even more commercial success.

I can't see T20 overtaking the 50 over format as the premier one day event.  I think the players enjoy the biff/bash of the T20 (well the batsmen do!) , but accept that the longer 50 over game is the fairer contest.
The best side always wins the WC , I'm not sure that'll be true , come September.

T/20 format just cann't discount the importance of ODI format in my opinion. It's a great fun though and a huge source of entertainment for the novices. It's potential to attract new fans, who may become real cricket lovers with good understanding of the game onces they get attracted to it, gives it some importance. So I am for this format.

I do think the same way like what you said Shan but I think 20-20 should be played after the ODI series finishes so it could be a more fun thing. The loser of the ODI series would be in for revenge!

The organising committee in SA are really jacked up and are always in the news. It's being taken very seriously and I get the impression that the ICC is pushing them hard to make sure we don't have another debacle as we did in Barbados.
What I thought was going to be a fun event might turn out to be something quite different. If the teams really go at it hammer and tongs then this format could threaten the 50 over game.
It'll make interesting reading , comparing the profit margins of the WC and this T20 competition.

There were apprehensions even before the WC started in the WI but this event seems to be sending out all the right vibes.  Hats off to the organizing committee.

Good and bad news for us Cape Townians!!  Good news is that the England/Australia clash is here on September 14th and costs just R40 !!

The bad news is that England play South Africa in the Rugby WC on the same day!!  Play starts at 9pm which is the time the cricket should finish.

The cricket isn't anywhere near as important to me - rugby is a religion here and I just have to see our lads putting SA to the sword.

So I'll catch the cricket on the TV , there's another 8 matches in CT and I'll get along to some of those.  Bloody awful planning by someone - obviously anti-English administrators out there!

It's okay Sledge, England will be hammered in the cricket, so the game will finish well in time for us all to watch the rugby.

Steady on Clobs , my wallet'll be on the line !!    (and we'll still get further than Scotland!)

Getting in and out of Newlands can be a bit of a mission JP , especially as it'll be a capacity crowd.  The game will have to finish by 8 for me to get to my local (about 4 miles away) in time for the kick off !

Normally we quaff a final pint at the ground and give the crowd a head start - if I do go , that will be totally impractical.

Do you reckon they'll have a TV showing the game in the press box?

Without doubt mate!!   South Africa will come to a complete standstill when that rugby match kicks off.
I can't really tell you how rugby daft SA is , you have to experience it for yourself!

So, India have announced their probables for the T20 WC.  The big 3 have been left out.  Apparently, Dravid told the selectors that the 3 senior players (Sachin, Sourav and Rahul) did not want to be considered for the tournament and the request was accepted by the selectors.  This could mean one of two things:

1.  The BCCI realize that the T20s would burn-out the seniors since they will just be done a long England tour.  They are taking this opportunity to give the younger guys a chance and see what the team might look like in a few years time when the big 3 retire.  Besides, 20/20s are fast-paced and therefore more suited to the younger guys (perhaps).

2. They are just not taking it very seriously.

I dont think the BCCI is smart enough to realize #1, so I am just going with #2.

Yep , there's going to be some big shoes to fill in the near future. Not dissimilar to Lillee , Chappell and Marsh calling it a day all those years ago.

Still , the game goes on , but when the nucleus of the side goes it's natural that they'll be some blips.

Yea, the Indian team has been lucky to have three of the best batsmen in the world in their line-up for many years now.  I'm preparing for a few years where the Indian batting might be quite weak in comparison.
