What's a 'literary link' (10th question)?
Regulation without integration leads to suicide.

"Literary" is something to do with books.  "Link" is a common factor.

Right, time's up.

Clobber is the winner, and new question master, with 9/10.

Anil Kumble came second, with 4/10.

The answers are:

  1. Who averaged 270 in Tests versus India in 2000

Andy Flower

  1. Who made an unbeaten ODI century against Pakistan in 1994, then did the same thing the following year?

Arjuna Ranatunga

  1. Who has played 73 ODIs for Australia without a fifty, and made the first century in the Twenty20 Cup?

Ian Harvey

  1. Who boasts a highest Test score of 101*, and took ten wickets in a Test against India in 1998/9?

Saqlain Mushtaq

  1. Who averages 35 (and a bit) in both Tests and ODIs for South Africa, and retired after fracturing a finger in the 2003 World Cup?

Jonty Rhodes

  1. Who played in 54 ODIs for Australia, averaging 26.89, but only one Test?

Stuart Law

  1. Who averages 56.48 in Tests for India, and 44.01 in ODIs, and was struck on the head in his Test debut in Pakistan?

Sachin Tendulkar

  1. Who scored 16 and 3 in his Test debut for Sri Lanka against England, and finally retired from Tests with an average of 42.97, including 20 centuries and 22 fifties?

Aravinda de Silva

  1. Who has taken 491 Test wickets and 329 ODI wickets for India?

Anil Kumble

  1. What is the literary link between the nine players above?

They have all been Wisden Cricketers of the Year

Well, you got nine of the right trees!  Not too much to be sad about!

No silly number sequences in your ten questions, now!

This round is over, here are your answers;

1. For which professional football team did Ian Botham play? Scoonthorpe United (neatly remving the swear filter from the equation!)
2. Complete this famous dismissal - Lillee  c Willey b Dilly
3. Who bowled the most expensive over in Test Match history? Robin Peterson (to Brian Lara - 28 runs)
4. And who holds the record for the most runs scored in an over in ODI's? Sanath Jayasuriya (30 runs - achieved twice, once off Aamer Sohail, onces off Chris Harris)
5. Who averaged over 50 in Tests but scored 0 in his only ODI? Sir Garfield Sobers
6. What country other than Australia did Steve and Mark Waugh both represent? Ireland
7. Who was the first Test captain of Zimbabwe? David Houghton
8. Who bowled the first ball faced in Tests by David Gower? Liaqat Ali
9. What was the result of this delivery? Gower pulled it for 4
10. What make of bat did Andrew Flintoff use before Woodworm? Slazenger

The winner was Swerveman who scored a creditable 9 out of 10, and was on the right lines with the one he didn't get.

Sorry for the wait; it's getting more difficult to think up ten decent questions!

1.    Which batsman has played the most Test matches for South Africa?
2.    Who has the highest Test average for South Africa (minimum 10 matches)?
3.    Which bowler has played the most matches for West Indies?
4.    And has the best bowling figures for an innings?
5.    And the best economy rate (minimum 10 matches)
6.    Which England Cricket Captain also played hockey for England?
7.    Another England Captain who held the world Long-jump record for 21 years
8.    This player took three Test wickets against Australia aged 15
9.    Captained India in their first overseas Test victory
10.What is the connection between the last three?

I know some people don't visit very often at the weekends, so I'll allow four days for this one.  Closing date Tuesday, 14th February (Valentine's Day) at 23:00 GMT.

Whoah you guys (clobber and swerveman) must be walking cricketing encyclopedias! You seem to know everything!
County Sim on extended break until I've got less work and more free time. When I have a specific date, I'll post it in the thread.

sorry fella, I am too busy being all romantic and stuff today

(that and I really don't want to have to think up another 10 questions! Just a thought actually, maybe the question master bit should go on a rota of some description so that "winning" a round doesn't come with such a burden?!)

2. Same

3. Walsh or Ambrose, but i think its Walsh

10. Its obvious, they were all cricketers.

Clobber's question with his answer:

2. Complete this famous dismissal - Lillee  c Willey b Dilly

Sounds great " The Lilly Willy Dilly Show"

Good questions Merv - I should've got Rachel and CB Fry !! I also saw the Indian Prince play too - pretty good for a fella with one eye! As for Larry Gomes - that's a bit of a dodgy one !

I still won't use literature though - I'm treating these like a normal pub quiz.
