Seems like a good guess. Australia, Pakistan, India, and SA are all good ODI sides. One of these 4 will win the world cup...I'm sure of that.

india and south africa have a chance of winning the world cup, under one condition i.e if they play it in their dreams.

India and SA are both great teams, and I am sure that either one of them could win the world cup. It could also be Pakistan or Australia. I would love to see Pakistan vs. India in the world cup final, with Pakistan getting their first world cup victory over India in the world cup final. That would be a dream come true for me.

I think that the Aussis might win the cricket world cup 2007.......at present they have the best odi squad......they have some of the best bowlers..., good fielders as well......and they definatley have the batting...True that the Asian teams are quite good as well....but I think so far Aussi has the best odi squad and I don't think any of their key players plan to retire soon...(before the world cup) It would be extremely cool to see some of the under rated teams perforn to the best of their abilities......and give the popular teams some good competition....! |

I was watching an interview with the Canadian cricket team, and they said they are confident that they can win the 2007 world cup!
They must have been drunk.

Perhaps they were saying they were confident they can win a game at the World Cup, Saad?

No, no, no. They were saying that they plan to beat everyone and especially Australia and they were already calling themselves the 2007 World Cup champions.

I think the Final 4 will be India, Australia, South Africa and England... from there anything can happen.... All have young sides.... (for those who don't know...Shane Warne doesn't play ODI's anymore... Matthew Hayden has been dropped from the Australian Team, so there are plenty of young faces in the Aussie Team)... and are currently very strong... but time will tell i spose... |

England's ODI performances are pathetic. There is no way they will make it to the last 4 in the world cup.

Fair enough. Longevity doesn't equal success though. Pietersen is the key - if he can play the role that I can remember Klusener playing in 1999 and everyone else chips in around him we might have half a chance. I'm not that hopeful though. I just don't think we have enough strength throughout the team to challenge.

no longevity doesn't = success.. but then you ask yourself why they have stayed in the team, would this not be because they are performing ??? |

To a certain extent, but it's also to do with the fact that we don't have anyone better to replace them with. Strauss has done alright and he's taken over the role that Thorpe used to have. Jones will drop crucial catches - the sooner we get Prior behind the stumps the better, not least as it means we get another batsman in - Solanki, Bell perhaps but neither of those strike me as World Cup turning players. I hope I'm proved wrong though....

When he got injured in the first or second test of the ashes, they said they were going to put him in an oxygen chamber and try and make him fit for the next test, but not only was he not fit for the second or third test of the ashes, but he has been out for 4 months now...and they said they would fix him for the next ashes test.

It was two different injuries Saad. Might well have been the same problem, but he was in the squad and then withdrew having got injured again.

Round robin play will see six games over a period of 11 days, with the final match of this Group slated for 23 March, between the West Indies and Ireland who secured their place at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 by reaching the final of the recent ICC Trophy. Australia, defending ICC Cricket World Cup champions, will begin their attempt to retain their title at the fully upgraded Warner Park Stadium in St Kitts when they take on Scotland on Wednesday 14 March. The twin-island Republic of Trinidad & Tobago will host Group B. Group play will commence on Thursday, 15 March when Sri Lanka meets Bermuda, India and Sri Lanka meet in the group's showpiece game on 23 March. Saint Lucia will welcome the teams, officials and fans to Group C of the competition. Play starts at Beausejour on 14 March when Kenya takes on Canada. Kenya, the surprise team from the last ICC Cricket World Cup, also closes out group play on 24 March, when they face England.
