hi everyone,

despite putting many toe gaurds on my bats over the years, i have never been able to do it properly! i.e. without sticking a load of sellotape over the toe gaurd till the glue dries,

does anyone know a good technique of putting them on?any hints and tips will be appreciated!

The only time I've ever done it I used a mallet to keep tapping it down until it began to stick

Patience is the answer. I find that when I take my time and wait for it to dry properly and follow instructions it works out.

  Simon,

    first make sure the toe is clean and dry, then spread contact glue,good quality,on to the toe and the rubber toe-tec,let it dry for about 20 minutes,get a light bulb or a heat lamp if you have got one,heat the toe-tec untill it becomes tacky  to the touch,put the toe-tec on to the toe of the bat and smooth down,then get an hammer and gently tap down the toe-tec,leave for an hour or so,and then trim the rubber to fit the bat,taking care not to cut yourself.

cheers, main problem i generally have (probs too much glue!) is that i leave it as long as possible, but then when i go to put the toe tek on the bat, it wont stick properly, so i generallly get some tape down on it!

yeah i stuck the toe gaurds under a lamp for 20 mintues with the glue, which i put less on, and stuck brilliantly!

dosent a bat come with a tow guard? mine did and its never come off but if yours does come off batman100 is right use contact glue its good.

most bats come with toe guards but most of the custom made bats dont unless you request for one to be put on

I had no problem getting my toe guard stuck on.
I swing both ways - but only when I'm bowling!

i always by a to guard its only like £3 pounds more and it saves the hassel but its more rewarding putting yours on

The toe guard sticks much better if you lightly sand the toe of the bat with fine sand paper before trying to sitck the guard on. V good advice so far.
