Clapo I said "Eng will win the series easy, and im man enough to say i got that one as wrong Fletchers seletions" its life we all cant be right all the time.

Most people expected a fight from eng not just us guys u mentioned, and to be honest even the auss expected a good matche from eng, so thats why we were all shocked by the hammering.
CLAPO feel free to use any of my old posts, it takes alot to get me offended. My prediction for the ashes was way way wrong but such is life and i hold me hand up.Big%20smile

Like visiting the dentist , it's something one dreads , but it has to be done - and so it is with my appearing in this thread!
Suffice to say that after watching every ball , losing so much sleep , I'm not in the best humour.  Comprehensively outplayed in every department I feel very sorry for those poor English sods that paid a small fortune to go to Australia and support their side.

Congratulations to the Aussies , they played wonderful cricket and a long and happy retirement to Shane , Glenn and Justin - you were a credit to the game and will be sorely missed.

One thing's certain , I won't be getting up for the one day marathon , my body can't take anymore punishment!!

.....now it's back to the bathroom for yet more hurling!!

Its really really Sad to learn your dissapointment, and believe me , I never expected such drubbing by ausies!, and since last Ashes  I had waited and waited for a good contest. My initial post was an honest reflection of my disappointment that I represented it as a death of english cricket, not to take a dig at any of the english fans.
Come on sledge, I know it needs a just a win or two to get you back and all of us as well and I believe it would be great for cricket if england pulls something out here and again I wish then good luck!

England will go winless in the one-dayers!

Fletcher will be fired if England fails in the World Cup!

Fletcher will not be fired , but he could well resign.  I believe he's taken the side as far as he can and he did a fine job of it. When he took the reins England were a shambles and he groomed them into a more than decent outfit. Notwithstanding the 5-0 hiding and some selectorial issues , he's the best coach England have had for many , many years.

And Wisey , you're dead right - as soon as the lads win a test I'll be right as rain again - pity I'll have to wait for 5 months or so!

Well its all over....and I'm all cashed up...Smile

The 1.50 on the Aussies winning the series was short, but better than bank interest....and just as safe!  Plus I also backed the 5:0 scoreline (after the 3rd test) for a much bigger profit. So thank you Aussies...you paid for my recent overseas holiday....Thumbs%20Up.

I never gave England any chance of retaining the Ashes in Australia (hell, they couldn't even beat Sri Lanka at home!!) against a fired up home team, but I guess the loss of Jones, Vaughan and Trescothik certainly didn't help their cause. Neither did the fact that Flintoff was only able to bowl 10kph slower (than he did 15 months ago) as a result of his ankle problem.

At least England can console themselves with the fact that they wont see Warnie or McGrath again on the field. The next Ashes series is likely to be a lot closer.

P.S. I did get 2 predictions wrong in this series.
1) I expected MacGill to play 2 or 3 tests (the winning form of the team, the injury to Watson and his own poor domestic form conspired against him)
and 2) early on I thought that England would win 1 test. I guess I underestimated the hunger of the Aussies, especially after all the retirement announcements.

Agreed that it's much easier, but in comparison to earlier in 06 when we played SA and were winning, he received sh**loads of criticism then, whereas most could only praise him this series imo.

His field placements were 95% of the time spot on, as was the way he alternated his bowling attack, and the way he lead with the bat.

well what a disappointment this series was indeed. i thought that even though England would have lost but they would have fought tooth and nail. but it wasnt the case. i think the series was lost with the non selection of Panesar and also the keeping aspect of things. both Geraint Jones and Chris Read really could not bring anything to the fore. i am most disappointed in Jones who is a real talent as was seen in 2005. Read leaves much to be desired especially in the batting area.

I don't think the series was lost on selection decisions, they played their part, but Aus were just too good in the end
