If watching Graeme Pollock , Vince van der Byl , Stephen Jefferies , Garth La Roux , Clive Rice , Jimmy Cook , Alvin Kallicharran , Sylvester Clarke , Adrian Kuiper , John Emburary , Graham Gooch , Barry Richards , Collis King , Peter Kirsten , Mike Proctor , Allan Lamb and all the modern lads has left me scarred , then I'll take it !

Seeing Pollock was some of the most sublime cricket of my life - it was the world's loss that it wasn't shared.
I hated apartheid , so let's leave politics for the idiots and stay with our 1st love , okay mate.

Yeah okay fair enough let's drop the subject.

Only thing is didn't all of those players play in the 1960's sometime...i remember you telling me actually when you first saw South Africa play in their inaugral Test and how it added to your collection of watching teams play in their inaugral Test like India when they won independance from Britain in 1947...

This is the only post where you seem to have managed to post without using CAPS.

Try to continue that and post in small case letters on else like with your other posts i will be forced to remove them.

Please read the forum rules before you post and try and follow them would you?

Even in spite of that actually you've posted your teams in Capitals so maybe you're only reason for posting the rest of your message in smaller case letters was due to your team selection.

In future keep your entire posts in small case.

Post-2005 Ashes, I think a new list of the best XI in the world would read:
1. V Sehwag (no player compares to his explosive power)
2. A Strauss (3 centuries vs SA and 2 vs Aus - brilliant)
3. R Dravid (world number 3)
4. J Kallis (world number 1 batsman and all-rounder)
5. B Lara (world number 2)
6. A Flintoff (world number 2 all-rounder)
7. A Gilchrist (still averages >>>>> any other keeper)
8. S Pollock (world number 3 all-rounder)
9. S Warne (the Bradman of bowlers)
10. S Jones (too good for Australia)
11. G McGrath (still the world number 1 bowler)
The unlucky 3 to complete the "squad" of 14 are:
12. M Muralitharan (the number 2 bowler, but you cannot have two spinner in a team)
13. K Pieterson (a great talent but still raw as meat)
14. K Sangakarra (a brilliant keeper-batsman but can't get in when competing with the all-time great Gilchrist)
JH Kallis is the only player in history to have 8000 runs, 200 wickets and 100 catches in BOTH forms of the game. Only Sobers (tests) and Jayasuriya (one dayers) have achieved half that feat.

Reading this entire thread makes interesting reading fellas! Go back to the start and just see thenames that made people's best XI - Gillespie , for one is a popular choice! (He'd battle to make a Queensland over 50 ladies XI right now)

Hindsight is a great thing , and Superbokkie's XI certainly looks formidable compared to some of the earlier efforts. I'd change Sehweg for Langer though - this is a test side - some of Sehweg's shot selection leaves me cold!

Great team. I like the Simon Jones statement (spot on). I'd swop G.Smith for Strauss, just for now But Strauss is knocking on the door.

O, and Flintoff is worlds no.1 allrounder.lol

Well without a doubt, i'm very proud to have the world's hottest player in our team. He has the capacity to change a game in an instance and turn it on its head. A player who can achieve this on a regular basis is priceless. To be honest, in the last two years I have seen him turn into a bowling all rounder and thats now to his advantage over other all rounders like Kallis.

Oh you poms and your sense of humour about sex... I'm sure freddie is potent with ball in hand but if you've seen the South African models that date the likes of Smith and Kallis, I'm sure you'd be floored.

It can't be a bad thing playing cricket for SA. You get a free model, or former miss South Africa with your first cap!

fair play on all world elevens but as we all have differing opinions here's mine, a wee bit different but i have my reasons

1) langer proven class and gritty attitude

2)sehwag the perfect foil, an in form hayden

3)dravid

4)tendulkar the master

5)kallis superb form with bat an a seam option

6)gilchrist reckon he can cope at 6

7)flintoff a place down the order but in this company.....

8)warne no question

9)lee sheer pace and attitude would blossom in this side and could be match winner used well

10)murali the 2 best spinners vital for balanced attack

11)mcgrath for now, still the best

12 and 13 difficult but i'd go for lara and pollock for now

don't see why 2 spinners in a team cannot be had especially when they are of this quality and ok on stats alone lee wouldn't make it but in this company given his allround ability which i believe is on the up, his firepower and positive attitude he gets my vote. the debate goes on

Brett Lee's a trier , but his strike rate is way off the pace and he's still to better 5 wickets in an innings.

Chaminder Vaas doesn't get much of a mention from anyone - good bowler this lad!!

I thought it must be 1st April Saad !!! There I was slowly browsing through your XI when I came to the joker - SHOAIB !!!!!!!!!!!

The man is a poser , a total waste of space and cannot possibly make a world XI that's been put together by his own Mum !

Get real , that lazy bugger won't play top level cricket again until he stops admiring himself in the mirror and get's off his fat bum!

i seriously wasn't planning on having him in there, but i couldn't think of anyone else so i just put him in there.

and well if you're saying that he can't make a world 11, you're wrong, shoaib made the world 11 this year and that proves my point. i know he didn't perform but he made the world 11 and you said he wasn't even capable of making to a world 11 made by his mom but he made to a world 11 made by the ICC and i'm pretty sure his mom is not on the selection panel.

but seriously i didn't think that shoaib deserved to be in the world 11 but he still made it and i was happy cause i'm a paki supporter.

I was about to make a similar point, although I'd have used a better analogy. Unless Sledger actually allows other people to pick his nose !
