So in the off season I have been doing a bit of work on my action.
all my playing carrer I have always fallen away in my action and that means losing all the power/ momentum gathered in the run up and meaning Im only bowling 110-115 kmh.
My 1 on 1 coach and I have found that it mainly my back leg collapsing at the delivary stride and not being braced enough also my stride was far too wide give me no bounce and very un balanced.
I have got my brother to take some videos of me behind side on and front on, bowling at about 65-70% effort can Some people please watch it and give me some advice and critique my action and feedback would be much appreciated.
By the way im 17.
Cheers.

hopefuly your real run up is longer than that but i think it is that your bound is not big enough so your kind of walking into the delivery stride

thats all i noticed
but i think a video of you at 100% would give a more accturate result of what you are doing wrong.

I agree with Inswinger.
We need a video of you bowling at 100%, Your full run up included.

That way we can see everything and see what you are doing wrong.

Following up with the previous post, i was wondering if i can gain some advice. Basically, i always approach the crease at a nice steady pace but when it comes to the delivery 'bound', i do not do this. If you can imagine that as my right foot plants, i in effect hop on my right leg a quarter of a step staying on my right foot, then my left foot plants and i go through my action.(im right handed by the way).

If you can understand what i mean,

a) How much momentum do you think i lose by doing this?

b) And how can i correct this and make it feel natural?

Thanks, im unable to include any videos, but i hope i've made it fairly clear what i do.

I am improving dramatically, but occasionally I bowl "too straight". Any ideas on why?

if you are jumping from your right leg onto your right leg you will be losing all your momentum

i would say
first of all practise
but the technique used it

run up
jump off your left foot
land of your right food
deliver on your left foot

you may not understand that.

but your problem is that you need to jump from your left to your right rather than right to right...
if u understand me

if you are bowling "too straight" as in "drifting on to the pads" then try bowling slightly wider of the crease and bowl the exact same action.
or aim for slightly outside off stump

or both

Yes, the problem is, when i first started playing i was poor to say the least, and i got into a habbit of doing it. Since then i have increased my pace and speed into the crease without putting the 'hop' in. i now sometimes open the bowling, so now i feel its time to break that bad habbit and try to bowl faster, but i cannot seem to do it. I wll just break down my action over the winter and sort it that way. Thanks for your help

Damn langerrox, just get that bowling arm of yours higher, don't carry back that back of yours too much, get a faster arm action and you'll be the side arm Malcolm Marshall! Nice landing on the crease kid!

Two advice

Either get a faster run up so you can gain some momentum to get pace or, get a faster arm action.

Its a nice action you got, there's a bit of glenn mcgrath about it. I'd say your never going to be bowling lightening quick with that action but you can be deadly accurate and if you learn to seam the ball then you'll be a handful for a lot of batsmen.

Here's a couple of things i would suggest:

1. From behind i noticed that your power comes all from your shoulder. If you bend your back a bit more then you'll be hitting the deck harder.

2. I disagree with those who said you should change your bound. You have a glen mcgrath type bound that doesn't need to be changed very much.

3. Keep that front arm high and really drive your arms through your action.

He needs to work on pace too! Glenn Mcgrath accuracy don't come overnight! Get a fast arm action lad, that will give you some pace!

its not a very big problem but i could use a bit more consistency during overs and in the way of not having so many off days.

i havent found it so much recently but some matches i just dont feel right bowling and i feel un comfortable and i dont bowl well

and also i havent found this happening as much recently but alot of the time i am having a good day but i can suddenly bowl a full toss with out even atempting the yorker or it goes way down leg side.

if any one has got any tips it would be usefull

i'm an occasional bowler and have developed problems with my bowling action - i have been called for throwing a few times but i don't know how to deal with the problem because my arm feels straight and i can't see it while i'm bowling.

Does anyone know of an arm brace to hold the arm straight while bowling?

Or any technical tips to help?

I need help with my batting. I can hardly see the ball when it comes fast and how is it possible to watch the ball till the end? I also need help playing legspin with a lot of bounce and spin which pitches on good length and on the leg/ middle line. What shot do i use?

My advice would be to get to the pitch of the ball and play with a straght bat.
Or play any shot that's with the spin.
If you're a right hander then cuts and off drives are the order of the day.
If you're a left hander then pull shots and on drives will be better. Also, the heave to cow corner is on as long as you pick the right ball to get the legs on it.

But try to get right to the pitch of the ball. For spin to work it has to hit the pitch and have even a little time to turn. If you cut that out then spin will be ineffective. And always watch the flight.

Just practice and with time you will start seeing it and hitting it. I myself was afraid to face fast bowlers but once I started middling the bat with the ball, it was not so bad.

I used to have this problem. What I did was use a tennis ball and get someone to bowl as fast as they could at me, that or a bowling machine's equivalent speed. Then gradually use something heavier until you fell comfortable batting against a cricket ball.

Just had a little training session today and I found a little bug in my technique. When facing a ball, bowled full (Yorker length) outside off-stump, I would play a cover drive. Having not played for a while it seems that my bat doesn't get low enough to the ground and the ball will go under the bat, a bottom edge with the ball clipping the toe.

Could my bat be too small or is it a timing/technique problem?

Obviously the easy fix solution to this would be to come out of my crease and advance down the pitch to meet the ball on the full.

well i dont think bat size would be the problem unless it is obviously too small. if it is a harmless yorker outside off you may aswell not play it.

im not a bats man myself but i think either getting the bat to the ground/pitch of the ball. or benging your knees and playing it late (depending on the width of the ball)

Thanks although, I have no idea how far a ball could nip back. It's always been a weak point in my game I'll just have to nut it out and keep it out of there. Might squeeze a quick single.

Basically playing quicks is about telling yourself to do everything qicker. Makesure your footworks sharp. Start by blocking and then start to play more ellaborate shots. As you become accustomed to the pace.

If you're talking betting style odds then those you have posted are great odds. I think you mean:

6/1- Boundary
10/1- Six
Evens- Out

They sound more like tailenders odds.
