Morning folks! Been doing some Uni work this morning and have just turned the computer on and you can imagine my delight when I saw the score was still driving up. 476/5 with Muchall on a doubler and Mustard on his century. As someone said above, this is a dream start to the season. Providing we keep in, when do you think is a ggod time to delare? Id say anywhere above 500 and we should think about it because with a totallike that we are in a great position to win

Durham began the day well and ended a great innings on 575, better than I could have hoped for. Muchall was the star and a great innings from Mustard too but with only one player scoring a single figure total everyone made a contribution. Only taking two wickets soured the day a little. Taking Key early was a good sign but at 169/2 Kent are building a nice innings. Draw is the favourite result I would say and given the 5 points we have already got Id be happy with that. I said before I would be happy with the draw. I honestly don’t think we can loose it now so I think I’ going to be happy anyway. Can we win it? If we get two full days play then maybe just maybe. 18 wickets in two days with a depleted bowling attack is a huge ask but 3-4 wickets before lunch tomorrow would set us up nicely but if Im honest the draw is on the cards |

Well I just got back for the game at Durham. Nice weather, good crowd and some nice batting. The Pitch was flat and very batsmen friendly. I overheard the groundsman telling a spectator to expect big scores as the pitch was flatter than intended. Loye rode his luck to get 114. He played some pearlers but was dropped on 0,22,35 and 62. Ill give credit where its due but the boy was lucky today in more ways than one. Chappel was the man of the day easily coming in and just blitzing the bowling. The score had stayed static for a while and the runs weren’t coming, wickets weren’t falling and to be honest the game was dying. He hit 50 from 49 balls playing some brilliant, brilliant shots. As for Durham the fielding was terrible. And that’s being kind. Dropped catches neared the double figures, boundaries were given away due to horrible missed stops and there was some awful positioning. Its unfair to criticise the bowlers given the pitch but praise to Throp who was brilliant again and the only one to cause trouble on a consistent basis. |

Well maybe Lancashire could be too strong for Durham? The next three days will certainly be interesting to read about. I will be keeping up to date using the BBC website during the day. Come on Durham!!!

s a batsmens pitch and our batsmen played some awful shots yesterday
which may cost us the game. Whether Lancs come out with the win in mind
is another thing. Ideally they want to leave themselves with maybe an
hour or so bowling today and a full day tomorrow. A lead of over 400
should suffice. But then again, are Lancs willing to risk it? If they
leave a total of 400+ for Durham to chase, given the pitch, they are
running the risk of loosing. Its a tough choice and a hard decision to
take for Lancs but I love this stage of a match. It would be better if
Durham were not so far behind and as I said from here they are not
going to win but its all up to Lancs. Hopefully. Chappel will entertain
us all again.
Thorp looked solid with the bat but I don't think that he and Killen have the 23 runs in them we desire to gte the extra batting point. Anyone at the game will tell you the same about the pitch and the Durham batsmen getting themselves out. I hope Lancs come out and hit a few bounadires early on and start to look as if they are eager to win. There were spells in the first innings where they scored about 3 runs from 10 overs and simply were just defiedning for the sake of it. Breese wasn't making them defend but they were just playing unneccesarily safe. Then Chappel came in and upped the anti and it was a "this is how you do it" salute to those playing way too conservatviely. Thorp has bowled well for us and is the only one to really cause the Lancs batsmen to think. Killen has the best economy but really is finished at this level and whilst Onions has wickets he is too costly and hopefullyqwhen Lewis and Davies return Killen and Onions make way. Thorp is playing well to be dropped and Gibson is taking wickets so add to that Lewis and Davies and its a decent second string attack. P.s. Plunkett and Colly playing on Monday! |

Durham have started very badly today. 48 for 3, lost top three bats very early.

94 for 8 now, definately a good decision to bat first by the Durham skipper.

Saw the Draw tonight, I thought is was a pretty good game but with an excellent end to it. What was Croft doing? I reckon he was expecting the ball to go down the other end, well thats where he was looking at the time of the run out? I've got a lot of family up in the north, Supporting Durham, (all monkey hangers) so I always tend to favour.
