Hey bladescape... The save and load only saves your basic information at the moment... although, I'm sure that should include what type of player you are!
I'll work through the save / load option over the next few days to tidy that up.
Cheers for the feedback, glad you enjoyed the game. There's more to come so keep checking in :)
All the best

Modified the toss (computers call)
All feedback is appreciated. Please also report any bugs, I have a few to fix up which i'll keep doing inbetween working through the new batting and bowling engine. Cheers all |

As a bit more info on the save option, everything should now save within the game. i.e. all runs, balls, wickets,50s, 3 wicket bags, players role etc. The part that isn't fixed is where it comes up with "Unable to save" for some people. I'm working on that though. Also working on finishing off the seasons, points tables, and fixtures. At this stage you will still play against the same teams, as in, one from each country, but I'll be implementing the first class teams from each country, and if people want to start putting their club teams forward for the game I'll start adding them to each of the first class regions. Do you think adding in your real clubs is a good option? cheers |

Hey guys. I've uploaded a new version of www.theonlinecricketgame.com tonight. The new version **should** fix the issues people were having with not being able to save - Please let me know if you can or can't save so I know how that has gone. I still need to add some parts of the save / load in, especially with the new fixtures as they are not saved at this stage. That will be fixed over the next day or two. I have added in the Fixtures, Points Table, and (virtual) Seasons. These are just the basics at the moment so you cannot 'win' a season yet. Once you have played all your fixtures some new fixtures will automatically be generated. I will have more done on this by the end of the weekend. Hopefully you will then be able to win a season, play in the semi finals and final.. if you're good enough :p I have also modified the current batting engine so that there are more singles, less fours, and less dot balls. Feedback on this would be great, I played about 25 games and it looked better than it was previously. cheers all |

Well, so-far it's better.
The save function works, which is good, and I can't find any REAL bugs, except for the fixtures, which doesn't reset at the end of the season until you reload. Although I always did better with economy when I was being more agressive, which is weird..... |

Thanks for letting me know, I completely missed that one.
This has been fixed now and will be up on the next update in a couple of hours.
Let me know if you come across any more.
Yeh... The bowling side needs work, in all honesty the aggression does very little and still heavily relies on randomness. This will be fixed with the new batting and bowling perf engine but thanks for the post and if I get a chance I'll see if I can make some tweaks to the current engine.
cheers bladescape

Hey folks.
The 5050 over games are working... I'm just working on the engine behind the games because at the moment the scores are regularly up in the 400s. I will publish a new version over the next couple of hours and repost when its ready for some testing. cheers tocg

Hey guys. The latest version of www.theonlinecricketgame.com has been uploaded tonight. The new version features 50/50 matches, as well as updates to the fixtures screen. Please note: I have also changed the way games are saved. In order for you to load any games you have previously saved you will need to load them through the new load button. After you re-save the game you can load it from the normal load button.
I am finishing off the saving of the fixtures etc tonight, currently when you load a previously saved game all yoru fixtures will be reset. If anyone finds any bugs etc please let me know asap... especially around the save options. Happy to answer any questions, |

Hey folks. I've now added in more dismissal types. I still need to work through stumped and also sort out the caught behinds. I've started tweaking the batting performances so see how you find that. I'm still not happy with it but will continue to work on tweaking that today based on any feedback I get. I've also fixed up some minor issues, such as the Fall Of Wicket alert box so it displays the correct fall of wicket details, among others. Any issues with the new version please let me know, |

Alright, I've fooled around as much as possible, and the fixtures seem perfectly alright.
The bowling aggresion has also improved, although my spin bowler isn't quite supposed to average 99 I don't think... (Bats 9 and keeps scoring 10-20 not out.) Two bugs: 3fer's are stored in the 4fer column in the STATS screen. And the advice square in the top left of the HOME screen still says :"Concentrate on taking 25 wickets to solidify your spot in the team." even though I've taken 30. Good improvements sofar, although what I wouldn't do for an allrounder class..... |

Hey folks.
I have modifed the game so now when you start you select your own country, region, and club. So far I have added the New Zealand teams, New Zealand State Cricket teams (Auckland, Canterbury, Central Districts, Northern Districts, Otago, and Wellington), and added 10 clubs into each region. ... a total of 60 new teams! With about 300 more needed. I've had to fix up a lot of code to do this, which is a good thing in the long run as it makes the game more flexible, but you will no longer be able to load your old saved games - sorry folks, it's a necessary evil! I need to add the remaining Regions (i.e. States / Provences) for: Australia India England West Indies Pakistan South Africa Zimbabwe Sri Lanka Bangladesh I then need to add the regions for each of these countries and then some club teams for each region before you can play as that country/region. This is quite a job. I'm looking for help on this as it's taking me away from the coding which is probably more important for me to be spending time on at the moment. If anyone out there has some time available to fill in some templates for me (players names, team names etc) then PM me and ill send you the template. All help is appreciated... if I can get 4 or 5 people to help then it will save me a lot of hours and I can spend that time working on the career progression now that the game is setup for it. I won't upload the new version until I have more teams in there as you would only be able to play as New Zealand teams at the moment. cheers tocg |

Hey folks. I've added a link to www.theonlinecricketgame.com which will allow you to download the team template. The link can be found under Team Template on the homepage. This file has code in it so for this to work only the specified areas in the file should be edited. At the moment I need club teams, and lots of them. As many club teams as I can get for each region. When each region has enough club teams I will add that region to the game so you will be able to play as your own club :) This may be a little confusing so please let me know if anyone needs clarification. Thanks to all those who are helping out :) cheers |

Hey folks. The Online Cricket Game now has a team generator.
You can find this under the Team Generator heading on the homepage at The Online Cricket Game. When you generate a team a file will be saved to your local machine (note: the location of the file will be displayed at the bottom of the generator once you click "Create Team"). If people have some time, can you generate some teams in your area. Once you have finished generating teams the files need to be sent to theonlinecricketgame@gmail.com. Please make sure the regions and clubs are real regions and clubs. Any that are not real may not make it into the game. This will make it easy for me to get bulk club teams into the game, and therefore will let me put the next update online sooner. If there are any issues with this please let me know. I have tested it and generated 50+ teams in about 10 minutes :) Any questions / feedback please let me know. cheers to all the helpers out there! Without you this game would not be possible. I will put some details together tomorrow and post so that people know which regions / clubs / countries we need clubs generated for. *** Also - to those that have replied I appologise for the slack response. I needed to get this done as the flood of clubs coming in was overwhelming. I will spend some time tomorrow replying to all threads & emails. cheers guys Edited by tocg - 20 December 2010 at 12:38pm |

Hey guys. I have uploaded a new test version of the game to www.theonlinecricketgame.com. The link to launch the game can be found on the homepage under the Test Version heading. This version currently has the Australian and English clubs available. The remaining clubs should be up by the end of the weekend. I have disabled the load and save options on this version as the coding for that still needs to be implemented. New features: Currently working on: All of these things should be completed within a few days. I will update the Test Version application link regularly over the next few days as I add in features / fixes. The previous version is still available through the normal link on the site so you can still load / save any old games that you have been playing. It would be great if people could try out the test version and let me know what isn't working or what needs some attention. cheers all, |

Hey folks. There is a new release of The Online Cricket Game ready for you to test. The main changes relate to the first effort at implementing the new GUI from AounArts. This will take some time to get right so thanks to AounArts for helping to make it look pretty :yes The first class career progression should now be working correctly. I have not been able to find a major bug with this over my testing period but please let me know if you find any issues. The save and load options should now also work no matter where you are up to in the game - again, I haven't been able to find any major bugs so please let me know if you do. Some screenshots of the first effort at the new GUI are below:
From here I need to fix the way the teams are implemented due to some issues I am having with that. I have all the required teams but need to recode how the teams are selected etc. I'll be adding in more teams over the next week with the hope of having them all in there by the middle of January. If people can test and advise me how they get on, that would be great. cheers guys |

Hey nice work with the updates. Just wondering where the Test Version link is. I'm probably just unable to notice it. And there seems to be only one country available to choose from (Australia). I think there were more choices before. Also, I was wondering if it is possible to view pitch and overhead conditions before a match and if they apply to the game?
.
Thanks DF |

Hey mate,
The test version has now been taken down. It was unstable... very unstable so decided to work on the current version and get that working so just use the normal version from the homepage at www.theonlinecricketgame.com (click on the logo and it will load the game).
I'm pretty sure the current version is relatively bug free and the load/save works well for batsman, but still needs some work work for the bowlers which I hope to get done over the next couple of days.
I've added England and India to the game today but just finalilzing a few issues with the teams. Check back in a few hours and you'll be able to use Australia, England, and India.
Match conditions don't actually effect anything at the moment. Once the new performance engine is ready the weather and pitch conditions will be available before the toss and will also have an effect the players performances.
I've been working on the new performance engine, but it's an extremely tough job to get right. I hope to have a test version of the performance engine ready over the next few days but it will need a fair amount of testing and refining to get it right.
cheers Dravid Fan,

Sounds good. Good luck with those engines it does sound tough.
By the way, I don't seem to understand how the batting aggression seems to work. My player bats at the same speed early on no matter if I put him defensive or attacking and most players in the game slow down after scoring about 70 runs(after starting off very quickly in all situations). Hey Dravid Fan,
Apologies for the late reply, been away on holiday :) Cheers for the luck! Seems like I need it because the engine is proving very tricky.. Your batting aggression works based on your confidence at the crease, your form, and the aggression level you have set. At the moment the difference between each level is small so I understand how you may not be seeing much difference. I am working on adding in a more complex engine for this, which is part of the batting / bowling performance engine. I hope to have another update over the next few days that will be better, although it is going to take me a while to get this to an acceptable level. I'll repost when I've updated it and it would be great if you could let me know if you see any improvement in the engine. Nice work mate, cheers for the feedback - keep it coming, it's crucial for making the game better. cheers tocg |
