I ave always loved bowling legspin there is no better feeling than knoking a batsman off stump out with a leg break when he plays for leg stump. But I have a problem. Recently someone asked me to attend a trial for a district team, not for my legspin but for my seam. I am pretty tall for my age and can swing the ball at pace. Should I give up legspin?

Bowl both I'd say, but make use of your natural advantages. Make seam your dominant style of bowling but keep your spin up your sleeve. It may also make it easier for you to bowl cutters because of your experience of spin.

This is what I been doing for the last week I have been bowling seam in thenets but for the last ten minutes changing to spin to help warm down. It is annoying because I recently started really turning my legbreak had started to bowl a flipper(Though not very well)

Bowling both can do you wonders! Picture this, day one of a test match where it is swinging and seaming, you take a fifer. On day 4 you are there on a deteriorating pitch and you bowl spin and get a fifer. It's amazing if you do that. Try bowling both but the disadvantage is that you mighn't be able to master all the variations in each of the respective art armoury!

i would never try bowl two styles, you should make a decision which one to bowl. I think theres been about 5 in crickets history who has mastered both arts. By the sounds of it you should be a pace bowler and then try to get really good at pace bowling and you will do twice as good as just being good at both.
However, this is just my opinion, it's up to you. |

I think you should bowl seam at thedistricts, and if that doesn't work out, bowl spin. If you prefer bowling spin then you'll improve easier. It's like choosing between PE and double Maths at school!

I'd suggest doing both as long as you can. I wish I could do either. *sticks to keeping wicket*

Assuming you're still pretty young, I don't think you have to choose yet. If they want you to bowl seam obviously they've spotted some ability in that regard and you should definitely take advantage if top quality coaches think you're good enough to give some attention to, but keep bowling your spin at club level and in nets and see where it goes.
