Much feet movement isn't required on pitches that bounce plenty zuhair.  If I'm not mistaken, I think Martyn learnt his trade down on the WACA pitch and getting forward a long way on pitches like that would be quite stupid.  Getting your body sideways to the ball is the key on those pitches.

sorry for writing it here, but i forgot my password yesterday and was unable to log in, eventually i requested for a new one and although it immedieately said "mailed to u'r ID" it took a long time to arrive, eventually i had requested for it 3 times (being frustrated), and finally when the mail arrived then even that password didn't worked as i had requested for it thrice hence, the recent generated one was supposed to work. finally today morning i used the last recieved password e-mail to log in!!!

can't we make it a bit more simpler JP!!!! but then again, i think it was my fault, i should have been a little more patient.

I'd be a bit careful about that Spin, if someone gets hold of your password then they can get into anything...

Yeah, quite true.  Only thing that will drive me nuts is if they use my email to blackmail someone.  Anyhow, most of the things that requires password aren't signed up with my original name so goodluck to them.

So, the regional List A tournament in the West Indies kicked off today and I'm sure hardly anyone knows about it.  Poor stuff from the WICB in advertising it!

Anyhow, as far as I know, here are the scores for games that was played today.

Guy (252-6) defeated Combine Colleges (250-6), BAR (249-5) defeated JAM (228) and lastly Leeward Islands (367-4) defeated Canada (183-7).

so many tours going on and not one is worth watching, for the first time in my life i'm getting bored watching cricket, so much so that i want the F1 season to start soon and am already waiting for the australian open.

is it because of too many one sided affairs or too much cricket i really don't know. but certainly cricket is losing it's charm.

I hope you're not suffering from depression mate because everyone knows that Zimbabwe can't fight out Sri Lanka and neither can Bangladesh against SA.  England hasn't really been a terrific ODI side so if you were expecting much closer contests, you need to be ashame of yourself.  NZ maybe weak with their squad but they do seem to like playing Aussie so that one should be a decent watch.

get some brains SW. thats what i meant, 6-7 years agao, a ZIM-SLN series esp in ZIM would have been worth watching. in 01/02 season hussain's young ENG side drew against IND 3-3 (same series when freddie took off his shirt to celebrate). IND - AUS test series wasn't as exciting either, although improving, PAK is also no longer as good as they were in the past and ofcourse WI is just another minnow these days. that leaves you with very few good teams and the same contests again and again have made it very boring.

i should be ashamed of myself for what? for expecting better cricket??? mate if anyone needs to be ashamed of himself it has to be you 1) for not having a brain 2) for not having proper knowledge of how exciting cricket was in the past and 3) westindians are now used to being ashamed because of their teams performances!!!

I think the team which needs to be ashamed is India and I dont agree with you Sam i think now its more worth watching becuz Aust,SA,SL and India[the Little Angels] all have good teams to challenge each other.

Nope Sam, you still don't get it.  Cricket is more competitive nowadays.  Back then, India use to struggle badly overseas, look at them now.  Australia had absolutely no challenge watsoever.  England was poor back in the 90's as well.  England are a very good test side now so as Mystery said, that's Aus, Ind, SA, Eng and I'd throw Sri into the mix as well for competitive test sides.  Sri Lanka's side is much better today than back then.  NZ and West Indies are the worse of the lot.

Times have changed and so has Cricket.  If you have passion for the game, it won't seem meaningless at all.  As much as West Indies have gone from bad to worse, I still haven't loss interest in their Cricket or Cricket itself!

And lastly, you simply don't know West Indians.

If you've ever felt inadequate , then spare a thought for Zaid Mir who recently played in the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Twenty/20 for Port Qasim.  Brought on to bowl he "finished" with the astonishing figures of 0-0-31-0 !   No , there's no typing error there , he managed to send down TEN successive no balls before pulling out complaining of a leg strain !
Umpire Saleem Badr said ," Given the strange situation , I allowed Zaid to be taken out of the firing line after he officially said he had suffered a leg strain and couldn't bowl."
Lawrence Booth , who's article in  "The Spin" which brought this to my attention added ," Would it be rude to suggest Mir didn't need to collect an injury to confirm the truism of that final clause."

       Priceless.

Strange. If a bowler completely lost his action I would expect wides more than no-balls. Do we know what he was being called for - could it be the umpire thought he was chucking?

Further bad news for Pakistan and it's cricket fans , the Indians won't be coming.  That decision was made by the Indian government and both boards have said that relations between them are still cordial.  Pakistan have approached  the Sri Lankan board to see if they will visit at the end of January.
So Pakistan have gone the entire year without any test cricket - just how bad is that?  Their coffers must be empty , all their TV deals had escape clauses whereby if tours were cancelled they'd receive nothing.
Cricket's the loser , but I understand why the tour's not taking place.

I think I saw somewhere that Sri Lanka said they'd be willing to tour so it's not extremely bad as yet for Pakistan.  Pakistan needs to playing their scheduled home series in Abu Dhabi (still away for non sub continent teams)!

India has called off Pakistan tour.

Source

Now what next? Is this going to divide the Asian block? SL having talks with PCB to have a test series. That idea will not be liked by BCCI, given the grudges that SLC and BCCI has been having.

It's a Government decision, so be very clear that both the boards could havfe done absolutely nothing about it. in fact the BCCI was keen for the tour to go ahead and had even requested the govt. for a clearance. unfortunately though, there were too many political issues involved for this tour to go ahead.

It'll be good to see PAK v SLN, which is almost certain to happen after Ranatunga had publicly expressed the interest of the SLC to have a series with PAK. these are two good teams and i'm certainly looking forward for this series. although like anyother cricket fan i'm extremely disappointed that i won't be watching a classic IND-PAK battle.
