Zuhair, This is just a "Best Quotes" thread. I felt it was a nice quote by Spin so I posted it.It should have been left at that. But no, you wouldn't.Topic was about Kamran at No. 3 in ODIs, you convienently jump only to his test statistics, that too selectively against India in Sub-Continent conditions, and then infer that my "dislike" is just because of his success against India. [Avg of 44 , 4 out of 6 tons against us ; Raj : yes nice record against us].

Well I would appreciate that if you had done some more research before posting so much against me.His overall records are ODIs - 27.17 and 30.79 Tests. That's no where near 40's.

You took following route:
No. 3 ODI batsman > Kamran against India > Only Test records in Sub Cont > Raj dislike Akmal.

Few days back you posted,

Isn't Yuvraj termed a walking wicket on bouncy tracks? He should just play at home.

Now let me also do what you do best, let me pull some selective statistics against Pakistan.
Yuvraj averages 63.55 against Pakistan in Tests, He has scored three Test centuries against them.
In 32 ODIs , Yuvraj averages 48.11 and got 11 wickets as well.

Yuvraj(bouncy track) > Yuvraj against Pak > Both Test and ODI records in Sub Cont > Zuhair dislike Yuvraj.
By the way, Kamran averages 23.87 in ODIs and 20.29  in Tests on bouncy tracks.

Then Manoj Prabhakar averages Overall Test (32.6) and bouncy pitch (31.17) average.[Better than Kamran]
Then Irfan averages better Overall Test (31.57) and bouncy pitch (25) average.[Better than Kamran]
Another intersting thing about Irfan (whom you always seem to write off), at the end of 15 Test-ODI bowling innings mark his bowling records is
much better than Amir whom you rate so highly.

Irfan's record (Majority of his first 15 tests in Sub-Continent)
15 Test: 66 wickets: Avg 26 : ECO 3.18: SR 49
15 ODI : 28 wickets: Avg 25 : ECO 5.2 : SR 29

This is Mohammed Amir's record at similar stage (Most Tests in Bouncy conditions)
14 Test: 51 wickets: Avg 29 :ECO 3.1 : SR 56.2
15 ODI : 25 wickets: Avg 24 :ECO 4.56: SR 31.5

Race to No 1 again ... started!

Take it easy Zuhair, doesn't make sense paying much attention to Raj's post when it comes to Pakistan.  The Indo-Pak rivalry gets to his head he he.

Anyhow, IK Pathan use to be used as a pinch hitter really, not a specialist, those stuff are needed at times!

But seriously though zuhair, Pakistan has Younus, he should be batting at 3.  I don't know who call the shots but geez, Younus is a better bet at 3 than Akmal.

I understand what makes you dislike Akmal's batting that he averages 44 versus India with the bat and has 4 out of his six tons against them - one of then won the match, the other saved it. So it makes perfect sense for you buddy.

Akmal may not be suited to that spot - but given Pakistan's fragile opening pair and the fact that we already have enough fire power at the end, it only makes sense to send him at 3. Although, 4 or 5 may still be a better option. Also, it is much less of a disgrace than having the likes of Manoj Parbharkar opening or IK Pathan coming at 3.

Spin on Kamran's new No-3 slot Smile. Though I have never rated his batting or hopeless wickekeeping right from the start, he has some good days with the bat , that is what PAK think tank expects from him at #3.

Spinny they regard it as the most anticipated one, which does not mean it is the best cricket show going around. Barring a few recent ones, the Ashes in the 90s were not really interesting.

So don't you think it's the same for the Ashes then? Why do people regard it as the best test series when for 18 years it has been extremely one sided?

All I know is in my time, being either India or Pakistan, making 350 is no guarantee that you'll win that game. True some games are one sided but it's blow for blow. One game one get hammered, it's reversed the next then they pull off close games.

No they don't Spinny - most of them are one-sided. They are just over-hyped. There are just a handful of really close one day games between the two sides, it is just the hype.

You can always expect things to be heated when an Indian and a Pakistani is involved eh, no wonder India and Pakistan put on the best ODI's.

Yes, great come back, my congratulations and full marks for originality - who knows, such a stunning riposte may pass into everyday usage!
When you win the toss - bat.
If you are in doubt, think about it - then bat. If you have very big doubts, consult a colleague - then bat.

I would like to take this opportunity to point out that Shane Watson is a Queenslander.

I am probably the proudest Queenslander alive despite living in Tasmania!

He is a fantastic cricketer and will be a rigid member of Australian cricket (whatever discipline) for many years to come.

QUEENSLANDER!
