I think inzy, afridi, younis, yousaf, malik, akmal are that good they can play anywhere and they have played at that number before! It just shows how flexible and blessed the pak ODI is. Im sure they can all do a good job at that position.

i agree with shoiab. Farhat is just not the right batsmen for the opening slot, malik and hafeez, then for the 3 spot i put Yousuf

I'd say my Pakistan XI (my preference):

I.Farhat
M.Hafeez
S.Malik
M.Yousuf
I.Haq
Y.Khan
A.Razzaq
K.Akmal
M.Asif
S.Akhtar
D.Kaneria

Bowling order(again my preference):

S.Akhtar
M.Asif
A.Razzaq(can switch with Kaneria at times)
D.Kaneria
S.Malik

Malik was superb at 3 to me. I would like to see him are younis there. If younis goes there , put malik at 5 and Inzy at six to play so power hitting cause yousuf is a deadly ODI player as well but I prefer malik at 3 and younis at six.

My xi would be

Hafeez , Afridi , Malik , Yousuf , Inzy , Younis , Razzaq , Akmal , Akhtar , Rana , Asif.

As Inzamam329 say , It just shows how flexible and blessed the pak ODI is. Im sure they can all do a good job at that position and he is dead right.

In troubled times, being philosophical helps a great deal, it helps you to remain sane and not do any further damage.

why are you questioning Younis as a 1day no.3? and DF, farhat for afridi? seriously?

Hafeez and Malik are obviouzsly the best openers, in fact why change the team at all?

If i had 3 wishes i would do 3 thing... exile mahmood and harmison, make geraint jones the best keeper in the universe and me the best leg spinner. what a lethal combination!

Here is my recomended batting order for Pakistan in ODI & Test

ODI

  1. Malik
  2. Hafeez
  3. Younis
  4. Yousuf
  5. Inzamam
  6. Afridi
  7. Razzak
  8. Akmal
  9. Rana
  10. Akhter
  11. Asif
  • Malik & Afridi can intechange positions based upon situation requirments.
  • Reserves: Farhat, Gul, Rao, Faisal Iqbal

Malik would have been very useful at no. 6 in a situation like yesterday when our middle order collapsed. Unfortunately he was out of form. Otherwise he and Razzaq would have been a handful for england and we could see a score closer to 300.

Tests

  1. Butt / Hafeez
  2. Malik
  3. Younis
  4. Yousuf
  5. Inzamam
  6. Afridi / Razzak (who ever is selected, as i wud always prefer on all rounder at no. 6)
  7. Akmal
  8. Rana
  9. Akhter
  10. Asif
  11. Kaneria
  • My test team would have Hafeez or Butt as opener with Malik (since Malik is a very good option with Kaneria for a 3rd or 4th innings) .
  • I would always like to go with 3 regular fast bowlers (Asif, Akhter, Rana) and 1 specialist spinner (Kaneria)
  • At no. 6, i wud always pick Afridi or Razzaq depending upon the wicket
  • My reserves for tests would include Farhat, Gul, Rao & Asim Kamal

Abu Rana is a real team man and is talented he is coming back from injury, i just suggest he needs rest. He shouldt play cricket for sussex after this series and just rest himsself. My ODi would be:

  1. Salman Butt/Farhat
  2. Hafeez
  3. Younis
  4. Yousuf
  5. Inzamam
  6. Afridi
  7. Razzak
  8. Akmal
  9. Azhar Mahmood
  10. Akhter
  11. Asif
  12. Malik, he needs to realise no one is garuanteed a position in the team just because they have dne well previously.

Razza started his career batting at 3 as a pinch hitter against Auss in 199 wcup. I would love to see him take on the pace attack with the powerplays being used, he could be devastatinf because he can hit any bowler when it comes to ODI cricket, I remeber him hitting macgrath in his prime for 4 bounderies in one over and also dealing with Brett Lee. Razzaq is the most powerful hitter alongside afridi.

well. Our Problem is that we have two players of spot no.3 Younis And MAlik.Younis is perfect for me and MAlik should be playing at no.6.If situation is in our hands se we can also try Afridi at no.3 spot(GAMBLE).

Hafeez and FArhat are the opening pair for me bcz there shld be one left hander to create problems for the bowler in finding his right line n length to bowl.
