VVS Laxman has indeed been one of the most unluckiest India batsman to have roamed the world. His talent wasn't recognised when he first came in, and when he was in form, he was not selected for World Cup 2003 squad. After that he had a lean period along with Ganguly and was kicked out, almost permanently for the ODI squad. Lat year when he was in terrific form in the Challenger Trophy, once again he wasn't selected for the ODI squad for the series against Pakistan against whom he has a great record. I would like to hear from all you posters out there about it, and wheather you agree with me or not.

That was a waste of a post you know. Seriously you need to focus on quality and quantity. That's what I learned form time and experience.

Well he must have been excellent batter with Ganguly and Dravid. Not been in good form lately. You must have seen in West Indies, he did not play that well. He couldn't do much except for 1 or 2 test matches in Windies. According to me give him change for couple of more matches, if he doesn't improve, then give him chance once in while. ODIs are really far for him, he got to straighten his test career first, and get his form going.

Absolutely right spin. Laxman wasn't even able to pass throught test cricket. I don't know why many people wants him to be playing in the ODIs. |

I never said he was the best ODI player. Plus he is anyday more experienced and anyday better than Yuvraj, Kaif, Raina, and Dhoni at the moment. The only thnig he needs to work on is consistensy, batting with the tail, and fielding. I hope you got your answer dhoniisbest. |

At one point, after he made 281 and a couple of centuries, he was actually rated higher than Dravid and Ganguly. He was the next best batsman after Tendulkar. It was only after that Dravid started becoming good. After he made 180, he started making 4 centuries in a row, a couple of double centuries and became consistent and all that. |

I was replying to a post which someone else said and what MaNi_PaKi just said was right. Ganguly was out of form and you said that he was still good. Laxman is anyday in better form than him, so why single him out. Is it because he is a South Indian. |

I knew that you were quoting him. I don't know why you are comparing Laxman to Ganguly.

Because they are the two cricketrs trown out of the Indian team, and all this while people have been comparing them. Even otherwise, South Indian players get worse remark than a player from Mumbai.

He did alright in west indies although he clearly wasn't playing
naturally and he wasnt aggressive, his century was a very slow one and
you could tell it required every ounce of energy he could muster.

I don't care about that. I was serious that perople are bias towards North Indian player than South Indian players. Why do you think that Kerala players are rarely selected. Tinu Youhanan was first, now it's Sreesanth. It has been only over the last couple of years that more players have been coming from Southern India. Players from North India get more chances if they fail whereas South Indians get very few cahnces once they fail.

VVS entering the squad now i think is a little too late. If he was on the odi team durinmg his prime, then dropped now due to weak form, i would not think that unlucky. But deliberately keeping him out of the Indian ODI team when he was showing everyone he well he could do was injustice. India have made him into a test player, and by bringing him back it will take long for him to readjust.

But only Tinu Youhanan and Sreesanth are from the Southern State of Kerala. That is one of the Southern States. Dravid, Kumble are from Karnataka. Balaji, Karthik is from Tamil Nadu. Laxman I think is from Andra Pradesh. All these foru are Southern States. Hope you understand now. |

India have wasted VVS and Vinood Kambli.
And put this on top of losing Azhur and Jadeja. India bore many quality batsmen in the 90s, and VVS is just one of many. The list goes on. I think they have wasted their time with guys like Kaif , Jaffer, Gambhir. |

He also got a bit 'starstruck' and became immensly arrogant and his ego took over.
