Something like that Bradman would be 20,000 and over though im trying to by greatest ever players but thats just a quick list name of names I don't know who is the best though...Do you????....... |
You just want that because you'll be the first to get there

Way too subjective to work.
We're keeping what we've got. There's no reason to change.

Nice idea, but I can see people getting annoyed about being portrayed as another country aside from their country of origin.

I know there is already a ladder system in place, but I've just come up with an idea of a ladder system if you wanted to change it in the future, the one I've done is with teams.
Here it is:
Teams Ladder System
0-25 posts = Marylebone Cricket Club
25-50 posts = Sussex
50-75 posts = New South Wales
75-100 posts = Kenya
100-150 posts = Zimbabwe
150-250 posts = Bangladesh
250-500 posts = West Indies
500-1000 posts = New Zealand
1000-2000 posts = India
2000-3000 posts = Pakistan
3000-5000 posts = England
5000-7500 posts = South Africa
7500 + posts = Australia
What do you think?

I think these new rules have got AK away from this forum, I haven't seen him post for quite some time!

That lessening of post counts sounds an excellent idea - it'd certainly make post-boosters think twice before spamming through posting total drivel. I also really respect people (eg Spin Wizard) who have been on this forum a long time yet don't have an enormous post count - his posts are always contributing something, and that's what this forum should be promoting.

Go into their profile, then take the edit option - that will bring up a list of choices including moderator functions. Click that one then you can manually adjust the post count. To zero if you are feeling mean.

OK, if you want to go for it, do it.
At your own discretion though - if something is utter dross, I'd be inclined to take 5 or more posts off, never mind 1.

Initially it might create a little more work JP , but the members will think hard before posting dross.
Ultimately I believe the forum will benefit - in a perfect world ALL
the posts will be worth reading!! (cue musical crescendo
and amazing sunset as John Wayne waddles into the sunset)
Sighhhhhh I'm an incurable romantic at heart lads...

Yes but I think Sledge meant they also get an additional one taken off their count.

When a post is deleted, the post count is also lessened by 1.

Nice idea Sledger. I'm not sure that it could be done in an automated fashion, but we do have the ability to change users' post counts, I know that much.

JP is it possible whereby a post that we feel is rubbish can be
scored as MINUS 1 ? (we'd have to be able to make that input)
Instead of just deleting the daft ones , the post booster actually loses out?

I'm not a massive fan of ladder systems - they do encourage spamming. However I suppose they work in a few ways.

I like the Bradman idea, you should keep that just in case someone reaches it by the 2012 olympics or something

The captain issue has been solved now, as now mods are captains, admins are managers.

True.
I would prefer it if we used non-cricketing jargon, or of we used actual players. Like for someone with 2 posts they would be Giles.

Well if new members don't see this trhead then they will not know who the moderator and admins are. |
I don't see that as a bad thing as I think it helps them interact more naturally without the fear of thinking "best not say that to a mod". If they need help from a mod or admin it isn't to hard to figure out how to get it, even for a noob.

Pity I've been away JP !! Can't we take some of the names thrown at us over the years?
A western theme such as "Sheriff" of "Lawman" would be pertinent.
But is it ruthless enough? Personally I'd prefer something with a little more venom ....
"Dictator" or "Despot" has a
nice ring to it . "Caesar" would get the message across to
the more argumentative members....
Best of all though must be "The Terminator!"
....something very sinister in that title mate!!
