So England progress , but they look well short of the main contenders. A professional job against Kenya , but little spark - they won't scare the big boys methinks.
     Ed Joyce did a sound job though , which probably means Strauss will be a drinks carrier for the duration - who'd have predicted that 6 months ago!

More bad news for the kiwis - Vincent I heard is out of the WC. He was struck by the bowling of Bond!!

Yeah and Tuffey is out as well, Canada will be dissapointed that they didn't do that well against Kenya and Davison didn't open. I think Chris Martin is going to replace Tuffey.

Canada did very well with the bat for their standards! I was surprised they got that much. A wonderful display of clean hitting by Davison - it reminded me of his onslaught against the windies 4 years ago.

Great stuff from Canada, Davison bowled off a no ball but thats the kind of luck you need to play an innings like that.

I agree there... For the 1st half of the match, it seemed as if Canada were seriously chasing down that total, but once Vettori and Patel put on the brakes, Canada just went downhill.

 Fleming looked in fine touch mate , in fact , Vincent apart (two ducks!!) , the whole side seems to be playing well.  I fancy NZ to beat a couple of the top sides , especially if Bond stays fit.  The rain seems to have freshened up the pitches and assisting the quicker bowlers. That's good news for SA , Aus , NZ , SL and possibly England !
     If the pitch for the game against Kenya is quickish , I expect an easy win for the English.

Vaughan looks in good enough touch to me. Maybe them can have a shot at strauss. They should beat Kenya with ease according to me mind.

 A pretty shabby weekend if you happened to be English. Friday's match was disappointing , losing the toss was unfortunate , but NZ are a much better side in this format of the game. 
    I agree with posts concerning Vaughan's dismissal too - just bloody awful. How can a supposedly class act average 20-odd ? He seems confused on what sort of role he has in the line-up - is he a dasher or is he a stayer? He falls between the two stools and actually looks neither. The rashness of his shots make me wince and I have serious concerns about his suitability for one day cricket.
     The Flintoff debacle is embarrassing - I've no problem with celebrating a win , but getting ratfaced after a humiliating defeat doesn't lie well with me.  Stripping him of the vice-captaincy is right too , but I'm worried about how he'll respond. It could gee him up or put him into a gigantic sulk - we'll see next weekend anyway.
     Without Flintoff the attack looked toothless - would Canada get 200+ against the other fancied sides , I very much doubt it. If there isn't a major improvement England could find themselves chasing 350+ totals against the top sides.
     NZ have more than an outside chance of winning this tournament. Bond must stay fit for that to happen though - he's a vital cog in the NZ fighting machine.

Good effort from Canada we would have had a much better chance if Davo didn't get out that soon.
