Maybe they might make it to the finals this time around...
Great batting by Hayden today.....323 is a big aske for the windies. I think they have the batting to make it though. If Gayle has a good day it woud really help. But better yet if Lara has a good day, like the vengence Lara that we love...that would be amazing!!! Anyway I think the windies could win the match so I am hoping to stay home from school to look at the windes bat (God willing).
Today there were a few missed run outs so that didn't look too good for the windies.....they need to do something about their fielding.

with the final standings, probably every team will be thinking they will have two points for the taking everytime they face ireland , it has to be seen if Irelnd has something more in store for other super 8's. Can they be a surprise package like kenyans in the last world cup well if they can prove something here it would be worth a watch. Best of the world cup for irish they have really made their fans proud.

Well done to windies. I had a phone talk with Chanderpaul last night and he told me that the boys was fire up and ready to win big and easy. Congrats to Chanderpaul, one of the best knock i ever seen him played especially around the leg side region. Also great feeling for me to see Samuel good form continue with some sixes. I am supporting West Indies 150 % all the way.
It look like their first match will be friday against England which should be a win for windies but never which team will show up for windies, hope it's not the losing team though.

they were banned due to apartheid...they had an awesome team in the early 70's and would have been a big player on the world scene during the time they were banned

Yea, if India does not make it through then I will be rooting for the Irish. In the end though, I would like to see a winner thats never won before. So, SA, NZ or Eng will do just fine.

Yeah their supporters didn't look heart broken or anything after the lose. Imagine how those supporters reacted when they beat Pak.....Well they are into the super 8 so that's definately something for them to brag about!

The Aussie and Windies have played great cricket between each other over the years. I remember the last time they were in the Caribbean, the windies lost the first 4 and then defeated the aussies in the last 3 and quite impressively too. The Aussie bowling attack isn't that powerful anymore. McGrath can't run through a side anymore but he can contain still. Tait is more wayward than spectacular and will go for a lot anytime he bowls a bad one to any of the windies top 5 excluding Sarwan that is - he just can't pull!
I have a feeling that these pitches in the Caribbean ain't to Hussey's liking and that may be an advantage to other sides.

Comfortable indeed but I wouldn't say the Irish were in any way disgraced. It looked at the top of their innings that they were going to be blown away by the pace of Taylor and Powell but they scrapped hard and put a price on their wickets

Good game Windies. The thing about this game was that it was an impressive win....it was an outright victory.....8 wickets is a good margin to win by so good job by the windies. We have a tough match coming up (God willing) though.....Aus vs WI.....that's really going to be something else. I hope the windies can pull off a win.

The Windies have won the match comfortably!
Powell was on target again with the ball. He's in form! Great news from a windies point of view and it's good to see Bradshaw back - I fancy him ahead of Collymore. Collymore is accurate but lacks the wicket taking ability like bradshaw!
Anyways, one can't get their hopes to high with the windies as the super8's will be tougher! NZ is in hot form and that seems an interesting game ahead! Can the likes of Powell, Bradshaw and Gayle contain the likes of Oram, Styris and McMillan - we will soon know!
Words had it that the pitch in Antigua is uneven - Bond will be smiling!

Well then Sledger you should be disappointed at their batting performance. I don't think they made enough runs but anyway......you never know what could happen especially when you consider the fact that they are playing the windies!!! There is still hope for them even with that small total. Ramdin took a really good catch today.....

If they lose it Daisy it'll be a disaster! The Irish will go into
the match with high spirits , but that won't be enough. With two points
at stake I expect a polished performance from the hosts and a
comfortable victory.
Having said that , I'll be supporting the Irish 100 percent !!! |

yeah I am happy with the windies performance so far in this world cup as well. We have what it takes to win it. Lara played okish in the last match. His four and six at the end was nice. I hope to see A LOT more of those this world cup. With regards to tomorrow's match between West Indies and Ireland (God willing).....I hope that we can win it and not underestimate the Irish. Afterall they did beat Pak so we should not become over confident or anything ahead of this match and think we have won it before it begins. If they lose it will really be a shame! |

Not really mate! I have been watching cricket for the past years in Jamaica and they don't seem difficult for them at all! It's always nicely grassed for the test matches. The one with Ireland and PAK was real bouncy - if Akram, Waqar and Akhtar was there, the Irish would have been scattered out for less than 10!
To my Windies side, I am happy with them for now! I think they bowled well in both matches! Samuels looks in the best nick out of everyone!

Nice finish to the tournament by Pakistan , lovely knock by
Nazir. Emotional after match speech by Inzamam , not surprising
in the circumstances. Ireland sitting very pretty now and every
bar/club in the Caribbean had better stock up on more guinness !!

Atleast something good for pakistan in the end, was'nt the ideal farewell for Inzi , but it was on the cards. He ended as the highest ODI run scorer for pakistan a big achievment, and specially showed the hitting ability which made him famous in 1992.
The pitch was a belter, and almost as has been used in most venues in the world cup, Amir Sohail actually asked dujon yesterday if we might see another green top wicket for west indies ireland match, well not in a hundred years I believe!
Green pitches are usually difficult to prepare and usually dont last longer! Whatever may be the case pitches are made far before the toss and its the same pitch for both teams, just by luck toss decides the match. Edited by wiseguy - 22 March 2007 at 5:43am |

I am so happy that Pak won today!!!! If they had lost today it would have been very hard to swallow!!! They are going through so much already I don't think that a lose to Zim right now would be very timely. Anyway it was a sad day because Inzi played his last ODI match today and this also means that it was his last world cup. |

WoW! that was the funniest run out ever. The runner was in a world of his own.
Then the next batsmen gets a sneaky one to his nads by Afridi. ![]() Congrats to him for his 200th ODI wicket. but Man! Where are the spectators, only saw a handful of them. You can barely hear a cheer when something exciting happens. The islands need to give away tickets. Hopefully it picks up in Barbados. |

Great news looks to be making its way to the Irish cricket team. Unless the Zimbabwean middle-order does something miraculous, they will be heading back home soon.

Looks like Pakistan have done Bob Woolmer proud, they've batted exceptionally well and bowled well up to now, fantastic knock from Imran Nazir, with 160, the highest score so far. Also Ireland look to be going through. |
