Yes Sam, its not the same as it once was.  I don't visit as frequently as I use to.  I think life has gotten busier for most, which is the case for me.  But no doubt, few years back, it was very addictive and by far the best I came across.

Cricket World forums were undoubtedly one of the best forums in the world with such quality posters around, very sad to see the forums come pretty much to an end, I think new users haven't just got attracted to it, JP and co should do something to revive the forums.

I'll always miss CW but hope to keep visiting the place, always, God willing!

Hi, my name is Tom. I am 14, from Australia. I love cricket , footy and basketball. Don't play cricket for a team just for fun. Favorite players are Starc, Hughes, Watson, Warner but the player I like the most is Shaun Marsh. Follow the BBL and go for Scorchers

Thank you very much. 2.8 or 2.9 sounds perfect. I just gotta find out which one is that with the SS TON Professional, light or medium.

Hey Max,

There is no right answer to which is better between light or heavy bats - it is what suits you personally that is the better one. There is a trade off too - the heavy bat might impart more power, but with the lighter bat you get more bat speed, which in turn gives power, so using a lighter bat doesn't necessarily mean you can't hit it a long way.

The best thing you can do is go to a cricket retailer if you have one locally and wave a few bats around, you will soon get an idea of what feels best in your hands. If there isn't a shop, do it with all your team mates' bats the next time you get together with them.

For info, most pros use bats around 2'8 or 2'9, but they do get the lightest clefts of willow for those so they still get the huge profiles.

In terms of branding, again there is no such thing as "the best" - there are plenty of very good quality brands out there and all have their fans and their detractors.

I'm 19 and from the USA where Cricket isn't big at all. I came to the forums because I paralyzed my left deltoid and tricep and am just trying to find out which bats are better, light or heavy. I'm not interested in going pro or anything, just looking for the right bat for a friendly game. I prefer lighter bats around 2.6 because they are so easy for me to swing but I have used a 3lb Amber sports bat and liked the extra power but it wears me out quick. I can always get stronger though. Anyways can somebody please tell the most commonly used weight when it comes the pros. I was gonna get an SS TON like Kumar Sangakkara but I'm not sure if I should get light, heavy, or medium. Also who makes the best bats and balls? From what I've heard most it's Kookaburra.

I am an American who has been to Australia for many a day between 2002 and 2006. I would not mind staying there December through March of every year but that's another story:) I have seen on Aussie TV and even a litle on American some cricket. I even saw British cricket on TV once in Amsterdam. I think if I could understand it better and see much more I could be a big fan. And now a big laugh for everybody:) Despite my ignorance I see the possibilities of a hybrid of baseball and cricket that those who are experienced in the one but not the other could both play.

I'm 16 soon to be 17. My name is Leo McGuinn and I'm English but live in Dublin. It's a bit overwhelming being surrounded by all these cricket experts considering I hardly play but I love cricket it really is a huge passion of mine. When I do play I'm a higher order batsman and occasional right arm spinner(though not particularly good)

so i guess its my turn now.but before i start i must say that it is a wonderful topic and i really envy one hammer.

i am 22 ,my name is zohaib parwaiz but people simply call me zubeee(weird nick for a guy but it wasn't my choice).i have been recently accepted for hnd in electrical engineering and computing technology and i intend to get a masters degree.i have two brothers and a sister who is a BDS student in final year. (or simply a dentist) and currently working with the rescue teams in musaffarabad(azad Kashmir) after the earthquake.

i loved to play cricket until i got a ball right on my face. i loved to bat and bowl but my bowling style was similar to that of shabirs(a Pakistani bowler who cant bowl).i  love swimming and i go to beach a lot.i know by now you guys are quite bored and want me to stop, so i am just gonna end this by saying that  my favorite actor is Kevin spacey.
