Ah, but if you're just here to further his aims then I'll have to ban you too... |

Inzamam and Lara both had fantastic years, I relly don't think i can make up my mind on that.
Hussey has not even played much. By the end of the series against South Africa we will know his true potential.Lara can score big scores in any part of the world as well as inzamam. Hussey has just played one of the mildest attacks he will ever play in his life |

Hussey has a hgih ODI average because he has so many not outs. He averaged 120 over one series...just one series...and even that against West Indies. West Indies don't have any really exceptional bowlers. If you look at Inzamam, he averaged I think 167 in the test series against West Indies earlier this year. Recently, against England, he averaged 107. That is outstanding, and that's why he is the best batsman in the world today. |

The best batsman , surely it's a personal thing and subjective?
I don't go by statistics when I GO to a test match , I savour the brilliance of the players in front of me. I've watched test cricket around the world avidly for 35 years , it's 45 years since my 1st test. In that time I've seen absolutely beautiful innings by so many players of different nationalities and everyone is a warm memory. Some gifted players have done it more than others and given me so many smiles as I walked back to my car at the end of a day's play. They are too many to mention and I don't care what anyone else thinks , on THAT particular day this man was THE best player on the planet. Some names from my time in England , in no particular order - Gary Sobers , Geoff Boycott , Graeme Pollock , Rohan Kanhai , Ian Chappell , Sunil Gavaskar , Colin Cowdrey , Barry Richards , Viv Richards , Greg Chappell , Colin Milburn , David Gower , Mark Waugh , Gordon Greenidge , Martin Crowe , Ted Dexter , Graham Gooch , Allan Border , Javed Miandad , Mike Proctor , Clive Lloyd. I've left out so many from pre-1982 , there's just so many lovely batsmen I can't recall as I type from that golden age from about 1960... Then after 1982 there's so many more !!! Tendulkar , Lara , all the names you younger people are familiar with , but whoever your favourite is , on any particular day good players become great and play like gods - that's the beauty of cricket. Even Don Bradman got a duck , isn't that what makes cricket beautiful? |

Do u by any chance know that ,, sachin had suffered Tennis elbow for this year -2005 , still he is averaging about healthy 46.16. okies ,,at least when sachin was not there ,Inzi could have taken the mantle of Best batsman ,,, but poor Inzi ,,, Mike Hussey stole his Limelight. Sorry boss ,,Inzi will not have a single year at the top in his carrier. Pls visit my anathor topic Best Batsman -2005 http://www.cricketworld.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=484&am p;PN=1 |

Hi Saad ,, to sad to say this my votes for Hussey ,, 19 matches this year in ODI and averaging about 123 runs is very very good by any stds .. So he is not only best batsman for Aussies but he is currently best ODI batsman in World. Even in tests he is avraging about 120 in 3 tests which is also the best test average this year , I mean Year 2005. Atleast for the Year 2005 the best batsman award for both Tests and ODI should go to "Mike Hussey". While Inzi has about 80 in tests and 50 in ODI's. Even dhoni has about 49 in ODI's and there are quite a few who average about 50 this year. So there are lot of people performing like Inzi . Sorry no credits for Inzi ,, coz Hussey has robbed the limelight this Year.

I am right, not must be right. Is there any batsman who is performing as well as Inzamam right now. The only one I can think of Hayden.

Tendulkar is statistically a way better batsman then Inzamam but right now Tendulkar is in extremely poor form and Inzamam is at his peak. Right now Inzamam is the best batter in the world...no doubt about it.

Inzamam is the best batter today...today...not the best batter ever Krisdy. He averages some where in the high 80s of low 90s this year. That is consistency...that is performance...look at Sachin...what's his average this year...lets see is it 5 or 10?

I truly believe that Sachin Tedulkar is a very good and talented batsmen. The stats speak for himself. BUT in the modern era it's between Kallis, lara and Inzamam. And i have the stats to prove it: TEST BATTING RANKINGS TOP 10 1 Jacques Kallis (SA) 894 So it looks like Sachin is on his way out of the top 10. |

I feel sad when people consider just a series or a particular year to label someone as Best batsman,,, yes Inzi is performing very well recently .... . and as of today INZI is undoubtedly the best batsman but it is just recently. Sorry ,, Hayden had an amazing year in 2001/2002 ,,, again in test he is picking up with 4 back to back centuries. Even our own[expelled] Ajay jadeja had 150+ avg in series and in next series that just followed ,, he hit 300 odd runs without getting out ... These petty once in a while performance doesnt make LEGENDS. you can call someone like Hanif Mohammed a Legend [in fact he is a living legend] ,, see his record and overall performance .. So how many times I have to re-iterate the same thing ,,, Pls pls pls ,,, before labeling someone as the "Best batter" see the record over considerable amount of time ... Greats are considered if they consistently perform for more than a DECADE or two ,, else only the country to which the player belongs will remeber him ,, and not the entire cricketing faternity. Smith is good but he is no where near Inzamam right now. Inzamam stands as the best batter today. He is just amazing.

No way graeme smith. The best batter ever is Donald Bradman, and the best batter today is obviously Inzamam, he has proved that. He averaged an extraordinary 107 in the England/Pakistan test series that just passed.
