After a poor series against ENG, I think this will be a crucial series for team India and MS Dhoni, a high profile series against arch-rivals Pakistan may also be the last time Sachin Tendulkar plays a cricket match, he might as well decide to call it a day after this series, ending a 23 year career that started against the same opponents back in 1989 in Karachi.

This series might decide a lot of things pertaining to the future of Indian cricket.

seen a brilliant first game between the two sides, I must say it was like watching the old India - Pakistan matches, as expected Pakistan's bowling is miles ahead of India's, it's Pakistan's batting that'll have to avoid collapsing and if they can do that I'll expect Pakistan to win 4 of these 5 games, already one in bag, I'll expect 3 more.

That lad Kumar bowled really well, but we'll have to see if he can continue the same way. also very very impressed with Mohammed Irfan.

Yet again another nail biting match between India and Pakistan. For such an excellent performances by the teams, both the teams deserve to win the series. T20 Series ending in draw is a well deserved result for the series. Low scoring match won by Pakistan playing to strength(bowling) but Indian bowlers have also done well and showed that they can fight small total. High scoring match won by India playing to strength(batting) but Pakistani batting lineup has done well and showed that they can fight high total. Congratulations to both India and Pakistan!!!

Pak 172/4 and need 66 56 from 70 balls and 6 wickets in hand.It should be easy, Indian batting collapse yet again. Indian did well to recover from 29/5 to 227/6 , but it is the batting that is time and again failing for India. Pak will be 1 up today and deservedly so , they looked the better team of the two.

However today something really interesting happened the very second ball (when plumb lbw was turned down .... as usual, nothing new there), MS Dhoni cheekily signaled at DRS symbol. Well ,that reason could be Indians constantly getting rough decisions right from the time BCCI have been against DRS.

I have observed cricket and clearly 8 out of 10 wrong decisions always goes against India, that too in crucial occasions.High time that BCCI take DRS.

I still maintain DRS is ABSOLUTE CRAP, but looking at the crucial decisions that have been going time and time again, it is better that India opt for DRS in whatever bloody form it is.

The fact that MSD did that signal twice to let Umpire know about it  just goes to show the frustration that has kept building with against the one sided wrong decisions be it in Tests, ODIs or T20's leaving Indian bowlers to take 12/13  wickets every innings.

BCCI please please please take DRS.

That spell by Junaid Khan today was one of the best we'll ever get to see, absolutely brilliant bowling, one of the finest centuries by Dhoni and then another fine century by Nasir Jamshed, all in all a good game and good to see Pakistan go 1-0 up.

I think India have found a decent seam bowler in Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, this guy can swing it for sure.

Irfan, Junaid, Gul and Ajmal, I'm quite excited about Pakistan's tour of South Africa early next year.

Plumb? It was never LBW because the impact was clearly outside the line and the Batsman was playing a shot. That was a very good decision. Dhoni would have wasted the Review anway there.
But could have had success for the catch appeal of Sehwag as it was an inside edge which the umpire didnt see.

It was one of the best Inning from Dhoni which i have seen. He made a match of it today.
I think Asad Shafiq and Umar Akmal should replace Misbah and Azhar Ali. Misbah ist now also hurting the team with his fielding. Had he held to the Dhoni catch, India wouldnt have crossed 100.

Pakistan have good chances in Bowling conditions in India. If the conditions are favouring batting then India is clearly the favourites as Pakistan can score 300 runs with this batting line up.

Get your blinkers off mate, the only place it was headed was to crash on the off stump much better the the Hafeez's dismissal.

It hit the back leg, height was ok  and it was inswinger, plus Azhar was beaten while trying to play across and his bat came late after impact.

Look at the hawk eye, the second ball was had swung much more than the first one. Anyway you can look at some videos or else look at hawk eye feature.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/india-v-pakistan-2012/engine/match/589308.html?view=hawkeye
Observe the 0.1 ( wicket ball ) and then see 0.2 ball (4 leg byes , which was turned down) from Keeper's view.

Khamed if you still say "Dhoni would have wasted the Review" , then I am afraid to say ... DRS is much worse than "Absolute Crap".

Anyway my point was not about this particular decision, but constant wrong and crucial decisions that current umpires have been giving time and again against India.I have lost count on the number of times the umpires have been horrendous this esp this 2012.

Either BCCI should take DRS or if not , I hope that each team keeps getting one wrong decision every match against India this 2013, that too it should be crucial ones (at least it balances out ).

Not really, I have told and will post it again,
1. Technology is not accurate, but DRS isn't consistent in its performance either
2. Horrible with slight edges, snicko, hot spot is still very much debatable
3. Sometimes Hawk eye shows crazy results when there is too much bounce or too less bounce. Haven't seen it show great results when ball is swinging a lot.

Forget technology, the rule of 2 review per innings is what I call ABSOLUTE CRAP. Just 2, too close decisions (strike downs) and you are run out to review, next even if a wrong decision is given, you got to accept it.

Forget even that, what this DRS has done is, it has simply converted great umpires into below average ones. How many times we have seen batsman being called back for front foot no ball after getting out ?

The logic is  simple, Umpires do take it easy as there is review system and now they are used to it they have become highly incapable (just like some shop keepers use calculators for simple math), many a times they get prejudiced as there is review left and give decisions which finally gets counted in close decision when DRS can't decide, which in turn will be a penalty for one of the team and will lose review at hand.

All in all DRS looks to be a vicious trap (for a team that gets DRS reviews wrong) and will further degenerate umpiring and create lot of controversy.

Anyway in my opinion DRS has lot of wrongs, but that's DRS debate, which is a different topic of discussion .... However with what I have seen over last few years, its high time that India take DRS, current day umpires are perfect clowns.

you should buy new glasses and look the video again. Or maybe study the rules again. You cant say to it as plumb just because Ravi Shastri was so exited. The ball was hitting the offstump but the impact was clearly outside the offstump and that means not out.
Maybe someone can explain the rule for him?

Every single team loves DRS just ask SA if there was no DRS i am sure it would have been a series win for Aussies but only due to DRS SA won the series which they deserved to win. NOTHING CAN BE PERFECT! if anyone want to get things perfect than he should enjoy that in dreams because in real life nothing can be perfect any sensible guy will want DRS and 2 is more than enough for me if you can't get it correct in 2 chance its unlikely you will do anything with 3rd one and i agree with Kahmad it was not out as he was trying to play a shot there.

Where does Ravi Shastri come here in all this discussion?

Impact was NOT in line ?
1. Go to http://www.espncricinfo.com/india-v-pakistan-2012/engine/match/589308.html?view=hawkeye
2. Look at the 0.2 ball when B Kumar bowled to Ahahar.
3. Closely observe the shadow of the ball on the ground (which logically tells that it hit him in-line)

The shadow of ball inside the crease is clearly in line with the off stump, the ball clearly hit his back leg which was deep.

I don't know how you say the impact was outside the off stump with so much confidence, Azhar's back leg was in line with off stump and when that happens it gives an abberation that ball hit outside off but in reality it was in line (because the back leg covers the off stumps). If TV replays would have shown that blurred batsman image you would see that the impact on the back leg to be in line with off stump.

Ball coming in, hitting in back leg, batsman clearly beaten, height was absolutely fine, in line with off stump and the ball clearly going to hit the off stump without any doubt .... I don't know if that isn't a lbw, then what is lbw?

Anyway I can't say anything more when someone says that, it was not out , as any further discussion will be completely futile.

Personally I think Azhar Ali's decision was fine, it did hit him outside the line, or at least there was enough element of doubt for the umpire to rule it in favor of the batsmen.

Yes Nasir should have been out but was not given, I've heard many people here say that such things even out at the end, so I believe for a team reluctant to take DRS, should also believe all this evens out at the end. (in the long term)

My final point, plain and simple, is that Pakistan are a superior side and they will prove just that in the ODI series, forget the T20's they are a lottery anyways, Misbah, like Afridi, should go, and this is coming from a man who has become a fan of Misbah and his captaincy during last year. I think there is enough talent there in the form of Haris Sohail, Azhar Ali, Umer Akmal, for Misbah to call it a day.

Impressed with professor, he should lead!

DRS isn't perfect , but we've seen in this series that India's stance leads to some decidely rubbish umpiring.  The rest of the world uses it and India should be forced to follow suit.   As for the cricket , Pakistan were by far the better side and but for flakey batting (something we've witnessed on many occasions) it would have been 3-0.  India have arguably the weakest bowling attack of any side in the top 8 - no , India have the weakest attack in the top 8!

If you're talking about ODI's sledge then bangladesh will be in top 8 and the Kiwis go down to 9!!!

... But I think even then your statement holds good, except that you can make it top 9.

Pakistan dominated the ODI series from ball one of game one until the 45th over of the last game, cannot believe how they lost the final ODI, that should have read 3-0, criminal of Pakistan to have lost that last ODI.

Personally I was very disappointed that PAK didn't try any of the youngsters even in the dead rubber, Haris Sohail and Anwar Ali were wasted, I think Misbah is too scraed to try any youngster as any good performance from them could jeopardize Misbah's own place in the team.
