a spinners length is different to a seamers. and each variation in a spinners bag requires a different length again. what would you say should be fuller, an off spinner pitching just outside offstump, or a legspinner pitching on middle and off. i would say a leg spinner, as offies are easier to drive.

Well, that's not what I only ball but its what I usually bowl. If it doesn't work, I try different things.

Well, your a bit predictable and easy to play then. If you nonly bowl that you wont advance very far in the game

Yea, I try and bowl a yorker every singal bowl and its because I don't agree with the traditional fast bowling theory of bowling 'fast and short'. I agree with Waqar Younis's theory of bowling 'fast and full'.

you've got to be kidding me! You think I am hiding my identity? I am a 14 year-old. Trust me, I don't know much about cricket at all. I just try and learn as much as I can from the Internet and books. Ask Sledger, he remembers the stupid comments I use to make when I was very new to cricket.

Yeah, for different batsmen it varies depending on their heights, footwork and technique. But believe me there is no such thing as perfection. You can only strive for excellence; perfection is God's busienss. |

Trust me, I have great control over my yorkers. I can do it almost at will. And I try to bowl one in the legs or on middle stump every single ball.

You must be joking man!!When you bowl that you are just simply asking to hit.But about the yorker length thats a good idea especially early on in a batsman's innings but you will have to perfect that delivery else you end up bowling knee hieght full tosses which every batsman can put away or juicy half volleys or you my be the next rett Lee by bowling these ilegal deliveries |

I agree with "Warne in the making" like the saying goes "one man's meat is another man's poison".I think once a batsmen gets to the crease just bowl the standard line and just outside off-stunp and vary your lenghts and line and attack his pads, bowl at his body. And if he still survives then send me a PM.But surely the average batsmen will get out to the normal liine and length

Dont forget its the length to the batsmen. The perfect mength is different to Sachin Tendulkar then it is to jason gilespie, its in there height. The england openers have a very similar perfect length for example

6 to 8 metres from te stumps if you bowl over 130 kph, a little fuller if you bowl slower. You have to adapt to conditions with bounce, etc.

winter practice starts next week, can't wait. anyway the reason for posting here is to ask a question about length as i've been asked by the captain to coach some of the juniors. from batting and bowling i have a relatively good idea of what a good length is, however i'd like to put some lines down on the wicket to help both bowlers and batsmen. Now i understand this changes due to the pace of bowler/pitch, but my question is does anyone know for a club medium pacer what the perfect length is in metres/yards from the popping crease. Also what distance from popping crease is short of a length or full length/half volley appreciate your help Edited by Tiger |
