I choose my own stance...my coach gives me advice but I don't always have to follow it.

you should never take up a stance just cos your coach tells you to. Ok when your 8 years old in your first match, maybe you'll ask for advice. But stance, grip etc is or should be solely the batsman individual prefrence

Razzaq's stance may not be proper or whatever you want to say...but its really unique and cool.

I think I will work on this in the nets - try batting on leg and on middle and leg to see what feels best

I stand on leg and move my foot to middle stump...my coach said to do that.

I stand on leg then move across so my feet are planted across the stumps, letting my move the ball to leg with ease. My stance promts bowlers to bowl outside off stump, where they aint gunna get me out!

Advice I once heard is that you need to be positioned so your eyes are looking straight down at the middle stump at the non-strikers end.

When you take guard at the start of your innings what factors do you take into consideration to choose that particular guard?

I've always taken middle without giving it much thought until recently. Then it dawned on my that my favourite shots were the off drive so I am wondering whether I should be giving myself more room to play these shots by taking middle & leg or leg?
