I don't believe some of these threads. If you can't think of something sensible to post , then please do nothing and just read the other postings.
Bradman was a freak of nature who played cricket at a level that no-one has come anywhere close to matching. Anyone who knows cricket and has researched Bradman's career (and watched footage of his feats) will never compare him to any other batsman , alive or dead. |

Yea, that's true. Bradman is the best batsman of all times.
I don't think there'll be a batsman like him even in a million years. |

I don't get it. Why does it matter if the pitch is covered or uncovered.

Not to mention that the bats themselves were nothing like the powerhouse things we see today

Rubbish!! Harold Larwood was seriously quick and hit practically every Aussie batsmen on the 1932 Bodyline Tour! Voce was quick too! Pitches weren't anywhere near the standard of today and they remained uncovered in all weathers. It's silly to compare cricketers of different eras , but don't patronise the quicks of yesteryear - they were nasty fellows , just like todays guys! Fact is , with the nice pitches and all that armour I'd say today's batsmen are bloody soft - in the old days it was a cap , thin gloves , a brittle box and a ton of courage. |

That is true somewhat, many bowlers in taht time used to barely be medium pace and bowled from 5 strides, but there were a few that were super quick Truemen, the bodyline bowlers, and tha Aussie aboriginal who they say is the fastest ever bowler. Sorry can not remember his name.

Yea, that's true. Bradman didn't face the quality bowling that later developed after his time.

I highly doubt that Martyn would've gotten an average even close to Bradman's. I don't think anyone will ever get an average near bradmans.

Hussey is close to Bradman...but its just the beginning and I know that there is no way that at the end of his career he will have an average higher than 99.94.

certainly, remember alos he played on uncovered wickets, so basically multiply his average by 1 and a half and that is equivalent to what it is worth on conditions these days.

Certainly, he played 54 tests at an average of approximately 100 and played a few hundred tests with an average of 95, pure brilliance and a one off no one will better him for a long time if ever.
