I think that direct hit by Mascarenhas will be the turning point in the NZ innings. With Styris at the crease and batting the way he was, McMillan, then Oram in support I'd have been confident. This will be the key partnership now.

absolute rubbish captaincy from Collingwood again in the early part of the innings. With NZ in all sorts of trouble he should have bowled Flintoff out there and then to try and get another couple of wickets as well as strangling the RR further instead of letting McMillan and Styrix play themselves in nice and easily.
Dazza to the rescue. |

Well, NZ have managed to get a reasonable total on the board, considering how fast they lost their early wickets. Macmillan seemed to be continuing the job Styris started quite nicely.

I don't understand it either Clobs. It seems they have a bowling
order and they'll stick to it come hell or high water. Whatever
happened to thinking on your feet?
Darren Maddy is some bowler huh !! |

that's a handy total in the end, even more so considering the strife they were in early on. England's top order will need to improve dramatically to win this one.

that'd a logical explanation as to why he didn't bowl his quota- he really pours his heart out when he bowls which in turn permeates injury! |

How good is this Maddy bloke? Vettori looks as if he can make the difference, though. |

he was certainly crocked by the end of his over at the death, but if he was able to start an over then after rumbling round the outfield for 10 overs he would certainly have been able to start one in the 7th or 8th over whenever it was. Yet again England manage to screw up a position where they had the match there to win. |

Excellent finish to an exciting match! Bondy seeing the Kiwi boys home in a tense penultimate over. England, threw away victory in that match, they had our backs to the wall all the way to the end. Vettori was the difference for me. He's bowled superbly throughout the tournament and seems to be relinquishing his role as captain. Another brilliant innings from McMillan who was well supported by Styris (or the other way round?). Plenty of potential still to come! We've seen nothing from Taylor or Vincent thus far and they're due to fire!
Should be a cracker against South Africa in our next fixture who are also in good touch! Edited by bondy - 18 September 2007 at 12:22pm |

how many times is that now that Pietersen has been dismissed playing the reverse sweep this year? I can think of the Lords Test against WI and today - even if there aren't any more it doesn't seem to be much of a percentage shot for him

Everyone stopped laughing ? The so-called most experienced 20/20
nation on the planet played like novices to lose that ! Clobs is
right too - just why does Pietersen play outrageously when normal
cricket will get you home comfortably?

164/7... Wanderers isn't the easiest of grounds to defend on, especially for Aussies. I think the Paks might just win this one.

Actually, I changed my mind again. They need 27 off 24, with 6 wickets in hand. I think they can do it.

Pakistan wins by six wickets, handing Australia their second loss of the tournament. Well played innings by Misbah Ul Haq and Shoaib Malik, both getting half-centuries.
Well done, Pakistan! |
