NZ showed some real spirit but it was Englands match to lose. Gillespie bowled very well at the death to hand NZ victory!

Man, I just vex, vex no hell, Pakistan beat Aussie and I didn't see the look on the aussie players face, I should of fellow my mind and bun school for the day.
Heh, heh, great stuff by Pakistan.
Great 5th wickets partnership from the Pakistan batsman, you can't ask for a better partnership.
Two big guns (aussie and Sri Lanka) in serious trouble, only one can progress now. yeah boy, cricket is getting better as the days go by.
I want the video now, where can I get it.

Pakistan must have batted well, I went to bed at about 4-40 odd, good to see getting rid of the dead wood and poor attitude is working, they looked a much happier team.

Younis khan batted superbly with Malik. The Aussies look hopeless maybe my prediction of them winning was wrong.

hahah That was Misbah-ul-Haq Sam, that's funny because a few friends of mine also thought it was Khan who bated with Malik.

Got to go with 143's comment , the Pakistani's look a happy
bunch. Has that anything to do with Shoaib's fall from grace - it
wouldn't surprise me if it has.
Obviously winning is a big fill-up , but I just see a side giving their all and we haven't said that about Pakistan for a long , long time. Maybe Lawson deserves some credit , they are firing and could well take the cup. Then again , a change of coach almost always sees an upturn in fortunes as the players have to impress the new fella. Anyway , they won and won well - Australia never give anything on a plate. Sri Lanka/Aussie today should be fine entertainment , but will they get the crowd for a 10am start? |

Just as much to do with getting rid of the big log, he always looked like he had just lost his last $10, could bat, but gee he let the team down in lots of other ways. |

Infighting was invented by Pakistan and who's to say they won't unravel
if things go pearshaped in the semis. I don't think that'll
happen though , they seem as tight a unit as any I've seen since the
Imran days.\
That's the kiss of death - they'll have a mass brawl after losing at the weekend! |

Sohail Tanvir and Mohammad Asif are a lethal combination, and Umar Gul is just adding more fuel to the fire. Pakistan have a formidable offense here. Well done, Pakistan. Your recovery since the ODI World Cup has been amazing.

I don't think anyone should get to carried away yet though, it's only a few 20-20 games.

True, but they have been showing great consistency. Both economy and wickets being commonplace among them so far in the tournament.

Yeah it looks promising, but I have said before that 20-20 cricket can't be a real gauge of how teams are travelling, it's a comp that brings the good teams back to the average ones, the gap is nowhere near the same as the other forms of the game.

the impressive thing is that I suspect most of us would have thought ahead of the tournament that Afridi would need to score heaps of runs for them to do well, yet he's hardly been needed.

Anyone else think Doctrove is appalling? Just how he called that
no-ball to prevent the five-fer is beyond me - he is nowhere near good
enough.

4 for 16 from 4 overs by Morne Morkel... That's the best figures for a South African so far in this tournament. Almost got a 5th, but it was a no-ball. SA did a good job to restrict NZ to 153/8 after the blistering start that NZ got from the first wicket partnership, and the flurry afterwards by McMillan and Oram.
Will they be able to chase it down successfully? A good Gibbs/Smith partnership should secure victory for the Proteas. Edited by Mojo - 19 September 2007 at 2:35pm |
