Hey Sledger, did you attend the Cape Town games today? Anyhow, sad stuff from Sri Lanka.
Pakistan showed a lack of motivation against Bangladesh. Not a good idea. I did not enjoy the way Salman Butt batted, didn't help out his captain. Hopefully we see more intensity in the Semifinals from them. Edited by IbiZZle - 20 September 2007 at 4:21pm |

Good work from India - they've lost 3 wickets in 4 balls. 33-3.

Yes, yes india are in the semi finals. South africa will stay at home but will take the plane back to their villages.
Superb by all the indian bowlers.
Aussie look out for the indians now. Good days. Edited by BackFoot Master - 20 September 2007 at 8:26pm |

Great performance by the Indians to book their place in the semis. The kiwis must owe the Indians a pint or two now.
Only got to watch South Africa's innings and I thought the Indian bowlers did a great job especially RP Singh and Pathan. The fielding had improved from the last few games. Karthik pulled off a blinder and Sharma hit the stumps direct to get rid of the dangerous Kemp. For a while there, I thought Dhoni was going to have a bowl......I'm so glad he didn't.
Its surprising that Singh wasnt named MOTM but I guess Sharma did play a great innings under pressure.
As for South Africa, its back to square one. They have failed yet again in a major competition at home. However, I think this time they were quite unlucky as they have played some of the best cricket in the tournament and have been knocked out after losing just one match, while Australia have lost two and are still in the hunt for the cup.

India has bowlers that will rip any team in half in seaming/swinging conditions.
For a moment i though india would ended on a total of 120 runs but they did superbly well to reach 153.
Kemp run out was really the changing point for south africa.
It's a bit hard on South africa though, lost only one match and out of the tournament.
India all the way, thats why i never wrote them off.

They got their tactics all wrong - as soon as they went 5 down they shut up shop and hoped they could inch to 125, whereas with a little more boldness they could have counter attacks, put pressure on India - they might not have won the match but they would have had a far better chance of getting 125. |

Since when a finals does by on monday, how on earth will i see that match now.
I always believe in going a bit harder at the runs in the middle period than at the death where they can be loads of pressure and thats the time bowlers look for the yorkers, full and straight. Edited by BackFoot Master - 20 September 2007 at 10:30pm |

The presence Oram can bring with the bat is immense. If he concentrated on his batting, which he orginally was a batsman, he'd play a key role in the NZ line-up. If he can bowl, it's a bonus.
I'm not going to argue with a little kid, either. You have no idea about NZ cricket. Oram is an excellent fielder in thte gully region. He dropped a catch off his own bowling; it's been done before..he's not a useless all rounder. Ask any Australian if he can bat, eh?

I don't agree at all at dropping Fulton out of the squad. He is batting will come important against a team like Pakistan and I hope he is back in the squad.

You must be very happy BFM! I didn't see today's match but I was looking at the scorecard on cricinfo and I think that SA should have beat India. India's total was not that big and from previous matches SA showed that they are capable of successfully chasing down large totals (remember the match between WI and SA). I know India and the windies are two completely different kinds of team but still SA has really good batsmen. That ground was probably really quiet after the match.

I'm not too familiar with Sharma but he looks a good prospect for India...if not with the bat or ball, he's definately a nice site to look at ! If he's not on fire with the bat or ball he'll be giving off heat in other ways! .

I still don't think that a team can secure a victory for themselves by making 150-170...remember in the opening match between West Indies and South Africa, the windies made 200+ and they still lost! Of course they gave away so much extras it didn't help them one bit.

Today, the shot of the day was from Sharma - a push from a full toss that beat the cover guy and ran to extra cover in no time. Superb shot!!

I agree there. They seemed content to just get to 126 and never really looked like wanting to win the match. Thats what probably messed them up in the end.
As a side note, it was disappointing to see Harbhajan mouthing off when he got Van Der Wath stumped.

Okay. That does it. The Proteas are chokers. They've always been chokers, and they always will be chokers. They suck!
Go Springboks! You can still win RWC 2007 at least. |

haha South africa yet again failed in pressure match. good performance by indian bowler specially RP singh. I dont know what happened to SA, first I thought that they only want to qualify for semis and not want to face australia in semifinal but suddenly the whole situation changed and they lost the very important match. they really missed kallis in that situation. now the clash between two continents lets see who win.

There was a video of him having problems at a NZ airport over a customs issue, he had lied about having dirty shoes in his bag, he came across as an arrogant grub, has seemed like a real sook in the games I have watched of him, has a suspect action at times too.

You're right there Bondy. Oram has been known for his excellent fielding and can use his height to his advantage. His batting, when on form, is great to watch especially when he gets under it and gives it some. But, his bowling has been average as of late but im sure he can work on that. His bowling performances in the ODI WC were better than what we're seeing currently.

"at times" is perhaps being generous to him! Hence Sangakarra's nice observation to him one day asking why he batted in short sleeves but wore long ones when he bowled. |

don't be too disappointed....look back on what you said....they just lost one match. It's 2020 cricket which doesn't prove any kind of cricketing abilities unless you count slogging (which mostly anyone could do). They really played good cricket during this tournament and they are moving forward, they are not back to square one. Just because they don't advance in this tournament doesn't mean they are going backwards by any means!
