And what's more, the umpire is feeling sorry for them, letting Gibbs get away with an edge to Gilly.

It is ridiculous, I'm sorry but that is a quality top 5 and to perform like that is ridiculous.

I'm sure if Ricky Ponting or Matthew Hayden or even Adam Gilchrist had to have a bowl right now, they'd each get a wicket. That's how sorrowful this match is looking.

I was going to say that but:

1) gibbs is looking a bit settled
2) I didn't wanna sound overly harsh

So next question is how many overs do auz need to win? I reckon about 20...

Well, it's 5 pm here in SA, and time for me to leave my office. Good luck for Saturday, Australia! I hope Sri Lanka proves to be a better challenge than we were.

As usual 143's Murali Bashing! Oram did not even query (so is Murali's reputation about catches), but 143 is clearly knowing more than Jacob Oram who played the particular shot! Just stop posting your extremely biased views! (some bias is always welcomed, it makes the forum colorful) You are so jealous because Murali is emerging as the best bowler of the tournament!

Nothing bias about it, he dropped that catch, it showed it pretty clearly on replays, you would need to be viewing through blue and yellow eyes to disagree. Why would I be jealous of a cheat?

Well, what a disappointing performance from the Saffies - not least because it has deprived the global audience of the spectacle that a WC S/F should be.  I suspect the length of the tournament plays a part in the quality of the final stages - both the Zealanders and the Proteas have looked like they had one eye on the journey home.  But fair play to the Aussies, they proven that simply by going through the motions you can quickly set aside a team not intent on being competitive.

Well, perhaps 150+ is on the cards after all, we may have something of a game on our hands.

Despite the Aussies apparent omnipotence it is blissfully reassuring to see that Watson still can't bowl for toffee and that Tait remains the worst fielder around.

Well that was rubbish.

I suppose in hindsight it is no great surprise that NZ and SA - two rather robotic teams quite frankly - should fail so dismally when confronted with a bit of verve.

One assumes that Sri Lanka won't be hiding any of their bowlers come Saturday so for crying out loud let's just have a decent game of cricket.

I didn't see it, so what I want to know is whether SA were outplayed or just choked. I see Jacques Kallis was bowled trying to charge Glenn McGrath twice in a row in the 5th over, so I suspect it was the latter.

Australia are a more talented, better balanced and mentally tougher side in my opinion, but definitely not by a 7 wicket margin. SA really need to bring in a spinner, and stop Kallis reading the newspapers so he doesn't go off trying to change his entire style overnight. Graeme Smith would also do well to stop mouthing off in the press, it just puts unecessary pressure on both him and the team.
It's a long way to the shop, if you want a sausage roll.

So Haydos needs only 53 more to break Sachins record of 673 runs in one tournament and I am sure he willbe aware of that. The South African batting was a shocker. Their two best batsman didn't show patience that Kemp and Nel showed. If they had aplied themselves better they would have easily ot to 250. Well done Aussies you looking unstoppable.

Come Saturday Jaya, you will be eating your words mate. Australia played fantastic cricket and South Africa played to a game plan that was never going to work. The choker tag will stick with them for at least another four years and deservedly so. They played disgracefuly. Australia will have to play that bad for the Lankans to win and that just doesnt look like happening.

I'm not so sure Tonks. The Sri Lankan's have a well drummed and quite possibly have the best bowling unit in world cricket. If they can bat well they'll be very dangerous.

The two best teams have made the final and rightly so one feels.
Good one Graham!
