Captain's knock from Smith to pull Melbourne out of losing streak.
Zoysa,Nannes and Klusener started the match well by dismissing Blackpool for just 204. In reply Melbourne found themselves at 2/8 and deep in trouble. A captains knock from Smith(171) and contributions from Klusener(61),Yashpal Singh(Also 61) and that ever wagging tail(85 between Murali,Nannes,Praveen and Zoysa) saw Melbourne through to a massive 424. Blackpool was then routed with Zoysa(3/20),Praveen(1/4),Rashid(2/21) and Murali(3/35) destroying them for just 159 to win the match by an innings and 61 runs. What a lucky number 61 is!!!! |

Breaking news : Ganguly not in final XI for match against Freuchie
KKR team management have decided to rest captain Sourav Ganguly and give the others a chance as Kolkata continued their indifferent form in the JPPL. Manager dips_december said : "Ganguly is being rested because he has played unchanged throughout and he needed a break. His form has not been brilliant either so the management and Ganguly himself decided to take a break to give Saha and Shukla another go." Dips was also quoted saying : "Its been a rather disappointing performance. The team has been on and off in every alternate game. We have not been consistent enough. Looking forward to a good game next up. Hopefully Dravid and the others coming in can do a good job." Pitch - 2 Outfield - 1 Bounce - 2 Laxmi Ratan Shukla comes in for Ganguly. Dravid will be leading. Parmar in for Yusuf pathan. Jaffer too goes away and Saha comes in. Here is my XI : Wriddhiman Saha Akash Chopra Rahul Dravid (c) Manoj Tiwary AB DeVilliers (wk) Laxmi Ratan Shukla (6) James Franklin (3) Daniel Vettori (4) Chaminda Vaas (1) Ranadeb Bose (2) Monish Parmar (5) |
