West Indies in India (2011)

Besides Aleem Dar and Taufel, good umpires are lacking.  It might have been the case donkey years ago but you wouldn't know due to lack of technology.  How many times we see a decision we think is out then its not out.  How many times we think not out but replays show otherwise.

Before, a big stride forward meant you were safe, which I found ridiculous.  Kudos to today's umpire for that change!

It's so infuriating. Even in the NZ/AUS match, Nigel Long and Asad Rauf (who I actually rate as an umpire) were making so many errors. I don't know if it is the DRS system/accurate replays that's highlighting all these flaws or if the standard of umpiring is just getting worse. What I do know is that Asnani and Hill need to be fined (as a disincentive to make bad decisions/incentive to improve) or preferably, sent back to FC/List-A cricket and then brought back when they have shown genuine signs of improvement in decision making. A player is fined for showing dissent at a ludicrous decision but an umpire gets off scot-free for making the decision in the first place. Ridiculous. The ICC is protecting umpires too much, showing them far too much respect. I understand it is a difficult job but if you are not cut out for it, action needs to taken. 

Ironic enough Sledge, umpires have openly backed the DRS.  I am with you on it though, I think it surely will affect them.
