The Windies are just seriously all over the place at the moment! They are just struggling all round and this really is pathetic. Lara's now dropped (or rested if you like) so if this doesn't work this literally could be the end of the cricketing scene in that part of the world. I don't agree with leaving Lara out but i suppose they had to do something. They're on to break their own record of the most consecutive defeats.
Well done to Pakistan who seem to be growing from strength to strength.

this series dosent look to be to much of an exciting series, i mean we
probably know who is going to win. Pakistan have played absolutely
brilliantly in the last year by beating a strong indian lineup in the
one day series while west indies have done just the opposite, lose on
home soil to the south africans. the west indies have great potential
seeing that they won the icc champions trophy but at the moment i think
pakistan are by far and away the better of the 2 teams.

Yeah everyone is so surprised that the way they won the ICC trophy in England after such a thumping by England (home field and on the road) and yet now they're falling apart. They beat the Pakistan on road to that championship but Pakistan beat them to the finals of the three way series in Australia and look likely to beat them in this series so Pakistan are easily avenging that defeat.

West Indies squad for the Test series - no surprise that Lara is back, perhaps surprising is the inclusion of Bradshaw, normally a ODI specialist...:
Shivnarine Chanderpaul (captain), Courtney Browne (vice captain), Ian Bradshaw, Dwayne Bravo, Corey Collymore, Fidel Edwards, Chris Gàyle, Wavell Hinds, Reon King, Brian Lara, Daren Powell, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Devon Smith.

First Test, Windies batting and recovering to an early collapse thanks to Lara's 29th hundred:
176/3, Lara 103 from 97 balls, Chanderpaul 22 from 75.

west indies: 345 all out
pakistan:144 all out
pakistan must probably one of the most unpredictable teams in the
history of cricket and this series looks like no exception. they
managed to beat west indies 3 nil in the one day series yet are now in
a terrible position in the first test match in barbados. west indies,
whose bowling attack has been struggling since the retirement of curtly
ambrose and courtney walsh look like they have finally produced the
goods with fidel edwards taking a superb 5 wicket hall. it certainly
seems that west indies will be looking for their first test win this
season

You took the words right out of my mouth! Is there any level to Pakistan's unpredictability? They'll look to scrape a draw out of this but its unlikely. They'll need some help from the weather that's for sure. But there is 3 whole ays to go in this game so the Windies have to make sure they don't get skittled and end up leaving Pakistan a target of around 400 with 4 whole days to chase.

End of Day 3 Pakistan 223-4 Inzamam 64 not out, Afridi 16 not out Pakistan lead by 193 runs. The match is even at the moment it all depends on the first hours play 2morrow. If either Inzamam or Afridi r still at the crease WI could b in 4 a long day. If Pakistan managed to get a lead of around 350+ even with Lara in the team i think its going 2 b 2 much for them.

Well if Pakistan do get a big lead then the Windies will just go defensive on day 5 and bat out for the draw and series win. I think its a 2 Test series anyway but i may be wrong. If its not then i suppose it may be a little different though that's if Afridi can hang about at the crease for long enough.

295-9 Pakistan Tino Best is on fire taking 4 out of the 5 wickets 2day. Inzamam heroics looks like not being enough. West Indies look favourite now to win da series 2-0 unless Inzamam can get support from Kaneria or West Indies collapse while batting.

I think Pakistan are resigned to defeat in this series even if they do scrape a draw in this match they'll still go down overall i think.
Lara will surely be named Man Of The Series?
I think overall it just shows the true frustrations that must come about in Pakistani fans at this unbeleivable inconsistancy in their side in doing so well against India and then following up in the One Day series and with their recent good runs against the Windies after losing to them in the ICC Championship Semi-finals and then to fall apart in the Test series like this is just the opposite of what you'd expect.
Pakistan are now really dead set as an inconsistant team and are gonna struggle to shake that tag off with performances like this.

Game on?
Sarwan now comes to the crease and the next man to then be dismissed would bring Lara to the crease.
Still after that comes Chandrapaul who seems to be in the form of his life.
Windies are in the driving seat and at the moment are cruising to victory.

Windies are struggling!
The result of this one test would completely change the face of the entire year for both teams.
For Pakistan it could mean another great escape like that against India andfor the Windies it could lead to an entire year of Test Cricket without a Test series win for only the third time in 40 years.
Will the weather save the Windies?
Can the Windies still eak out a draw or can Pakistan get the wickets required?
It all hangs in the balance!

Definitely in the balance, with only bowlers to come after Browne and Powell, if Pakistan get an early wicket tomorrow then they have to be favourites. I'm usually hopeless with predictions so I won't make one. Excellent fightback from the Pakistanis though.

The comeback is complete as WI are all out 143. Pakistan win by 136 runs and level the series 1-1. Not surprisingly the man of the match was Kaneria while man of the series went to Lara.
Overall Assessment of the tour:
Pakistan were much the better side in the ODI series which they rightfully won 3-0. Probably say No 2 in ODI right know behind Australia.
While in the test matches Pakistan missed the experience of Inzamam, Youhana and Malik and that shows as Pakistan wer crushed in the 1st test match.
While in the second test match with Inzamam and Malik returning Pakistan needed to win just to salvage a draw and returning captains knock in the 2nd innings (or u got say the dropped catch by the wicketkeeper Browne) turned out to be the turning point of the game.
Conclusion:
Had Inzamam been playing in the first test Pakistan would have either won or at the very least would have got the draw, but it just shows how much Pakistan rely on Inzamam. Thats why there are not that high in the rankings in Test match cricket.

Good comeback but don't kid yourself Pakistan are not the second best One Day side in the world.
Sri Lanka and NZ would both wipe the floor with Pakistan.
Inzamam is crucial to Pakistan but don't forget all that their doing at the moment is without Shoaib and for parts withotu Sami lately so a full strength Pakistan side may well be a force to be reckoned with.
A good comeback and a great series for Brian Lara who many speculated had been dropped for the One Day series.

Yup, well played Pakistan, missing crucial players at all stages of the series and they showed real fight in clawing their way back in. One of their injured players, Yousuf Youhana will have shoulder surgery to try and cure the problem he's had for a couple of years now.

even though pakistan won the last match, it still brought down their rating in the icc test championship table

pretty disappointing, pakistan has won all their ODI series this year but they have only managed to draw their test series. that keeps bringing down their rating. pakistan seriously need to win a test series soon.
