Hall is good. But I'd still fancy taking 7 of the last over from him. Bowls full but thats about it

You see I personally think McGrath's metronic line and length would count against him in that situation as the batsman has a pretty good idea of what he'll bowl and can thus line him up - such as when he conceded 9 off the final over to create a tie at Lords last year

And for what it's worth my choice would be Andrew Hall as he is an outstanding death bowler - indeed a couple of years ago he was in a very similar situation playing for Worcs when Lancashire needed 7 off the final over with 4 wickets in hand - Hall duly produced a quite amazing double wicket maiden.

You are captain of a team in the World Cup final in the West Indies next year. The opposing team needs 7 of the final over with 2 wickets in hand & you can choose any current bowler in the world to bowl for you. Who do you choose? My vote is Glenn McGrath. |
