It will be interesting to see what people think on this contentious debate so that's why i posted this poll. I say whitey as he is one of the form batsman in Australia right now and is one of the top bowlers of the players in this poll in my opinion.

In my opinion I think it has to be Cameron White, he's been brilliant for Somerset last season, especially in the Twenty20 games where he scored two centuries and topped the domestic Sky Sports sixes league. He is an excellent big hitter and can also bowl well with his spinners. He certainly has a future in the Aussie national squad in my opinion.

shane watson has been performing really well in odis recent times with the ball and with the bat.i think he will be a key player for australia in the 2007 worldcup.his batting looks very good and organized.australia needs to handle him carefully to avoid injuries as the worldcup is nearing.

Has to be Andy Symonds. Scores a great 150 the other day, looks set to get another big score tomorrow/tonight, bowls pretty well and is one of the best fielders in world cricket.

I reckon Watson in a few years but just now it is Andy Symonds grudgingly. I hate him after what he did to Pietersen when he was lying wriggling with pain. Hate his guts.

Walked over to Pietersen when he was lying down in severe pain, said something, then walked off. The scumbag.

I have no problem with hitting a batsman and saying nothing. But if they are in so much pain they need attention from a physio or the injury is serious then its simply courtesy to ask how they are.

Why is Ian Harvey one the list a all-rounder he maybe but he's playing domestic cricket in South Africa and was only a ODI specialist. Served Cricket Victoria well with his all-round efforts. |

Well most of them have never played for Australia but I have high hopes for James Hopes I think he will be a good all-round cricketer for Australia in the years to come judging by his current form. Also Aaron O'Brien is only a part time spinner he's not much of a all-rounder.

If he can keep his body together it is Watson on potential. Very glad to have Roy there for time being.

I still think Symonds is the prototype for the next generation. Fields, bowls variety and bats well. I am waiting for the batman or bowler who can alternate left to right depending on conditions. Wouldn't that make life hell for captains having a guy switch as the bowler comes in. Suddenly you have three leg slips, a leg gully and square leg.

Considering Australia where going to choose Watson ahead of Symonds in the Ashes he must be considered the better Test all rounder, mainly due to the fact that he is a bowling all rounder and would've helped the Aussie attack. Especially considering McGrath was on his last legs and Lee wasn't in the greatest form of his life. Lucky Clarke stepped up. For the one day side you'd have to say Symonds. He is the perfect one-day batsman and his bowling is versatile, well being effective, having the option to bowl either off-spinners or medium pacers. His fielding is also excellent and he often lifts the team. Therefore for ODI's it has to be Symonds and tests Watson. |

Fair call too. James Hopes is one I paid little attention to but he has been in top form this year for QLD. Hasn't Cosgrove fallen from grace

Unable to vote as the list bore no resemblance to the question on the grounds it was missing an all-rounder.

When you win the toss - bat.
If you are in doubt, think about it - then bat. If you have very big doubts, consult a colleague - then bat. |

Are you talking about Gilchrist?
If you are, which you may not, it is another topic of debate all together as to whether keepers should be considered all rounders.
If they are, then i'll say Gilly.
