you already posted Clarke on the previous page, evidently oblivious to the fact that Pietersen for example has twice the number of centuries he has despite only playing one more Test, and being only around 200 days older. Even the 4 years younger Alastair Cook has more hundreds than Clarke.

As for Sangakarra, that's laughable too - it'as taken him 7 years/68 Tests to get 15 hundreds so at his current rate he'll need to play until he is 45 to even get close!

Cook wouldn't be a bad bet Clobber. He's young but has a good temperament and like a Dravid or a Kirsten, could probably stay in the middle for a long time.
He just needs to stop planting that front foot too early. I think that it's one of the very few areas that he need to really improve on to become a really good batsman.

Sangakkara wont score centuries at the same pace from now on. He is a much bettr batsman now. Clarke has number of years of cricket left and has now cemented his place in the squad and will be the next test captain. If he plays 12 more years, he will certainly get 40 cnturies for sure excluding the current ones

well he won't for one thing, and in any case Ponting already has 33 and will have pushed the total nearer to 50 by the time he packs up

The only reason why I wouldn't doubt you Zuhair is because of the loads of games that are being played these days plus the bowling standards isn't as good as it is when I was just a toddle growing up.

In troubled times, being philosophical helps a great deal, it helps you to remain sane and not do any further damage.

That is the same reason SW that I am going for younger people. They may not be the same class as these players but the amount of games will surely help them reach these landmarks. Add to that the bowling standards and the pitches and all the rules assisting batsman now.

I don't think it will be Yousuf. He has a long way to go and he is already 33. He just had one excellent year and before that he had 12 or something centuries. In my eyes, he is well below Sachin and Lara's class.

I expect Cook to get most test centuries by the end of his career. He is young and has a good conversion rate. He just has to be a lot more consistent. By current rate he will get there and I expect it go higher.

Simply because he isn't far off Lara and is still going. But the Tendulker, why isn't he in this poll?

Um does the name tendy mean anything to you? It has always been accepted that tendy would score most runs and centries in both forms of the game but Ponting has now risen up to challenge this assumption. It is a for gone conclusion that tendy will score most runs and centries in one dayers but the debate remains as to whether tendy or ponting will score most runs and centries in test cricket. I think ponting will surpass tendy on both counts!

Doesn't look like Sachin is going to be retiring any soon matey. Sachin will have the most tons, he's already in front of Ponting by a fair margin.

sachin has 42 test centuries from 159 tests, ponting has 38 from 136 tests, sachin is 36, ponting is 34. Theres not much in it but i dont think its going to take ponting another two years to score 4 test centries. By the time ponting is sachins age i think its safe to say hes going to have more then 42.

Ponting looks like he wants to play until the 2013 Ashes where Australia plays England in England. That will make him 38 (almost 39). Ponting could well overtake. Who knows though? Injury, form, etc play a big part.
