with the kind of form he is having at the moment, Lara looks destined to overtake evryone on the race and end up at the top. Infact on current form probably only Yousaf comes near to him. Way to go for the graet man, and believe me his batting is a treat to watch, and his exagerated footwork still intact like what it was ten years back!
so far so good!

Ponting will almost certainly end up with more than 40 and will hold the record by the time he retires. What happens in the future beyond that is anyones guess.

At the end, I think Ponting will have the most centuries. He's fit and has more time left then both Sachin and Lara.

Well Ponting does have an edge over Lara and Sachin because he is younger than them so that should mean that he would be playing after they retire (God willing). It's too bad that the double centries and triple centuries and even the quadruple century is not counted as 2 centries as well as a double century, ect, ect. I think some members were talking about the way a double century is counted. It's quite interesting. Was that the way it always was?????

Lara is going to retire next year. He might get to 35 or 36. The most he can get is 40 if he scores a hundred almost every inning. Otherwise, I think Tendulkar will easily be right at the top. He has another 3-4 years left. That way he can reach even 50, but at the moment he seems to be heading for around 45. Ponting has a chance of over taking him. Infact a very good chance of doing so.

I agree, Ponting and Tendulkar are younger and have more time to play than Lara. I would go with Ponting as the one to beat it, he has just been in excellent form last summer.

I know this is off topic, but in ODI cricket it will take a really long time to beat Sachin's record, 40 ODI centuries is like something else!

I personally thing Lara will get few more centuries, not many but will get some before retiring. Sachin needs to play patient and not look at Sehwag while batting.

You mean Sehwag has to be more patient and MUST look at Sachin while batting.

Well for me it's going to be Brian Lara.

There's nothing stopping him from playing till he's 40. Bradman played till he was 39!

Ponting has 2 centuries less than Lara.

Sorry for messing up the poll, I mean to put Sachin with Lara and Ponting, I was in hurry at that time.

I vote for Ponting.

Lara on current form might get 5-7 more test centuries but that's pretty much it for him. Sachin Tendulkar, well, God knows when he's going to start scoring like he was back in the 90's...I don't think we'll see the 90's Tendulkar ever again. So that leaves Ricky Ponting as the obvious choice. Right now, he might have the least centuries out of the three of them, but he's at the top of his game, he's extremely fit, and that means he can play longer as well. He's only 31 and with his fitness, I honestly think he could play until 40. If he plays until 40 with this type of form, people will forget who Donald Bradman was by the end of Ricky Ponting's career. I believe that with Ricky Ponting's class, talent, form, fitness, age, and the amount of tests Australia plays these days, Ricky Ponting can easily go on to score 50-60 Test Centuries!

Ponting will go over 40 if he carries on like this, but it will be down to form, fitness and whether he can continue to maul attacks around the world as he is doing now.

The bowling attack these days don't have what it takes to trouble many batters. Punter will therefore go to average many and to make it even better, McGrath and Warne is on his side.
In troubled times, being philosophical helps a great deal, it helps you to remain sane and not do any further damage.

Really *sarcasm*

Bradman held the record for decades until Sunil Gavaskar scored a mammoth 34 tons... Steve Waugh should have held the record - 32 tons plus 10 90's (2 of them not out)... if he could get over the line he could have got 42.
Dravid , and Ponting (of modern day players) have quite a lot of 90s; and 190's...Mhd Yousuf

Yousuf will never do it, hes struck form too late. He should get more than 30 though. I think I'll change to Islam looking at the transformation in his game. LOL

Punter plays for another 5 years which he could do easily, he will finish his career with 50 test hundreds and 15,000 runs
Judge the player not by their stats, but by their opposition.

Don't start!!  It isn't Dhonibest's fault , it's a glitch with the system.  Have you not read the numerous posts complaining about the problems with polls?

Was there a new feature that would allow a member to vote only once any kind of polls, Sledger?
