b) Pollock to find form with the ball
c) Nel, Ntini and Kallis to find the form to back up Pollock in the way that the English backed up Flintoff
d) The batsmen, particularly Smith and Kallis, to be in their hundred scoring form
e) Preferrably one or both of McGrath and Warne to be injured for at least one or two of the matches.

Quite a lengthy list of requirements, but that said, McGrath and Warne are old...

Blimey Bokkie , your knees must be REALLY sore after all that!!

But seriously , don't read too much into this superseries debacle , the Aussies still have weaknesses. The middle order is unsettled and rocky , Katich is not the answer! Michael Clarke is too flash for a number 4 and Watson is green.

SA have pushed them before , but always got "Gillied" (204 and 140 was some return for a number 7 huh!) . restrict Gilchrist and they seem pretty average to me.

The way the Aussies are talking you'd think The Ashes never happened - if it hadn't rained England would have done them 4-1 !!

Yeah my knees are sore Sledger, but if you have suffered as many defeats to Australia as I have as a fan ... which I suppose you have because you're an English supporter aren't you? ... then you'll know how desperate I am for a series win!
JH Kallis is the only player in history to have 8000 runs, 200 wickets and 100 catches in BOTH forms of the game. Only Sobers (tests) and Jayasuriya (one dayers) have achieved half that feat.

I'd love to see south africa win, but am still worried that aussies are too
good. will comment more closer to the time
My two favourite Batsmen:
Jacques Kallis is a very solid but destructive batsmen and not to mention he can bowl as well.
I also like Michael Clarke for his amazing batting talent at such a young age

South Africa will definitely win the 20/20 match, SA scored heaps of runs against NZ in a 20/20 match, Australia havent played much 20/20 cricket. One days, If gilchrist is in top form, australia will have not problem, in the test matches, if warne and mcgrath one of them, australia will lose the test matches.

South Africa to clinch the test series, the middle order in the Australian batting line up is starting to look a bit weaker. Clarke has not made a decent score seen Lords and looks like he keeps on getting out the same way everytime. Been bowled by the ball that angles in and Clarke playing the wrong line. Katich will be dropped for the 2nd test against W.I so it will interesting to see how Brad Hodge starts his test career. But their are cracks appearing in the batting line up.

Strange exclusion of Martyn after the Ashes, a few unlucky decisions but considering how well he performed in India it does not make sense to be dropped in the Test side but not the One day side.

Which test series , there are two......

SA will do extremely well to get out of Australia without losing a test - 3 draws would be a fantastic result for them , but Sydney awaits and I just can't see them surviving there.

At home they'll attack more , but getting the 20 wickets is the key and without a spinner it's unlikely to happen.

this is the first time i've heard that a team is playing 2 test series against one team on one tour.

anyway, i think that SA will find it hard without a spinner but as long as their other bowlers work hard, i think they will be fine.

SA have played Australia home and away in 2 , best of 3 series since readmission Saad. SA visit Australia first , in December/January . The return in SA is March/April.

As always they'll be bazillions of one dayers as well...

Yeah they did it in 1993/94 and 2001/02. The 1993/94 both test series ended in draws  but in 2001/02 it was just disaster for South Africa where they only won one test and lost the other 5 on both the home and away series

The tour has already started Saad, and as we have a thread in the Current Matches forum, it's closing time here.
