I might be doing some keeping soon in matches, and though I've seen so much of it I still need too know some basic things.

Are you suppost too catch the ball with the finger area or palm area? because the palm of my hard is hurting after training yesterday.

+ other tips are welcome!

Keep your fingers pointed down so they dont get hit on the end (very painful), unless of course your taking the ball at chest or higher, when you use the reverse cup style.
Most int keepers prefere to take the ball on their inside (your left side when keeping to a right hander), though in the little keeping i did i prefered to take it on my right.

Try and be on the balls of your feet to you arnt caught flat footed if you need to dive.

thats some absolute basic stuff that your probably would do just about anyway just naturally.

Yes, it's the one with Healy.

My favourites are the spin bowling one and the batting one.

Yeah, you can get those mouthguards that you boil in a pot for less than £10.

No offence to you but why would typing a video into google video help anybody improve their cricket skills?

Back on topic and I've done some keeping in the past, my advice to you would be to keep your hands in a good position at all times, and to be quick off the mark for stumping and run-out chances if you get them.
On extended leave...

Catch it in the palm. Your hands will hurt until they get used to the impact. Aim to have a tense body, ready to dive, but relaxed hands (which comes from experience).

Don't get up too quickly otherwise it would be hard to catch those low catches and anticipate that every bowl comes to you

lol I was in the shop and I thought lets start off with a box for wicket keeping... so I bought one. But not a mouth guard.
If I had bought a mouth guard I probably would have had a ball in the balls :)

I  have been wicketkeeping for over 10 years and I am thinking of getting a mouth guard now! lol

p.s. Masterclass wicketkeeping does help to get the basics right. Especially footwork. Fair enough alot is pure reflexes and experience but it defo helps!

Why should anyone listen to a clown who is not willing to watch Ian Healy give you video footage tips. Freddie you are way off base!
