Aero Pads - Win a pair for the new season

If you're looking for some new pads for pre-season training perhaps, or the new season, then we have a pair of Aero Leg Protectors to give away.

To be in with a chance of winning a pair of these pads, simply identify the New Zealand tail-end batsman in the picture above who is using the AERO Leg Protectors.

Simply email your answer to competitions@cricketworld.com along with your name, or drop me a PM. Please note, that this competition is only open to residents of the United Kingdom.

The competition will close on the 16th February, and the editor's decision is final.

More about AERO Pads - www.aerocricket.com.

The leg protector for a batsman is his or her last line of defence from injury. Using your bat is by far the best way to protect yourself...but when you do get hit you want to know that you are well protected. Our design concept has always been to make protection that has to run and be a part of you - because batting is a marathon of toil combined with 20 metre sprints.

The first most noticeable benefit for all cricketers when trying on and using the leg protector is the weight, or more accurately the lack of it, compared to old style pads. Then you experience the snug fit from the wrap around anatomical 3-dimensional shape.

AERO uses advanced hot compression manufacturing technology and a sophisticated moulding processes to make our leg protectors 3D. This technology has allowed our design team's imagination to make truly revolutionary products, some of which we have patented. AERO Leg Protectors introduce unique performance features into a balanced design.

'P' refers to an index of protection that is as follows:

P1 protects up to speeds of 160kmh
P2 protects up to speeds of 130kmh
P3 protects up to speeds of 110kmh (Junior)

As far as i'm aware there is only one New Zealand tailender that uses them, there is also an opener but thats not what the comp is asking for.

They were produced under the Obo name until last year, when the producers went out on there own and formed Aero Cricket Protection. They are amazing products. There's still Obo gear around, but Aero have improved a few things and If you ask me, buy Aero NOT Obo!

Are these pads going to be P1, P2 or P3's and are there different sizes to choose from?

Under 13s get P3s, but the adults should be able to choose between P2 or P1.

I'll try and clarify that one for you later on.

Whats the chance of any chosing P2 if there is a choice ? =P even if your only in the comp to flog them off afterwards.

I'm not hugely bothered personally, i'm going to order some P2s if I dont win the comp and as I haven't ever won anything in my life I might as well just order now.

From what ive heard these pads are terrible in terms of wear.... i know several people that have had them ripped to shreds when diving to make their ground a couple of times.

NZ_Fast do you mean that the face of the pads gets badly scuffed up and gashed when they dive?  That has happened to me a few times with my P2 Aeros but I find that when I come to clean my pads later that most of the gashes have gone away or can be cleaned up. The shop I bought them off also told me that foam pads like Morrants and Aero can be reheated if they get badly dented and the foam has some sort of memory and comes back into shape.  I should add before anyone goes off to try this that I haven't been game enough to do it yet mainly because, diving notwithstanding, my Aero's are holding up okay (apart from the "two broken legs" sledging).

In theory if you hit the ball properly you shouldn't have to dive =P

Apart from agreeing with Kerm's last post, it must have been rough ground!

Yeah, hopefully I'll get my hands on some new pads. After all, I lost the bat, so hopefully I'm the one that'll get the pads.
