WC 2011 has been moved out of pakistan due to unstable political situation and security fears in the country. An expected decision but I didn't expected this so early. after what happened to the srilankan players it was obvious that PAK's WC hosting rights would be in danger. This must be a huge set back for all Pakistani cricket lovers and for cricket in PAK. from my side I believe it is a fair decision considering the fact that inspite of so many high claims the PCB could do nothing when the terrorists attacked the SLN team and after such a dangerous incident, it is almost impossible to convince the ICC and other nations about security and safety in the country.
PAK will have to be patient and hope that cricket returns to the country in 3-4 years. The 16 matches that were to be hosted in PAK will now be shared by IND, BAN and SLN.

Yes, they wanted to avoid the 'will we, won't we?' deliberations that hit the Champions Trophy and have taken an early decision.
Most ironic that on the day that Pakistan is denied the chance to host the World Cup, Afghanistan are awarded ODI status. |

Congrats to Afghanistan. I just hope their troublesome background doesn't affect Cricket in anyway. Just incase some people don't know, Afghanistan is a far more dangerous place than Iraq but you don't hear much over the news. My cousin has friends in the army and they say it's very bad out there, much worse than what happened in Iraq.

The decision was inevitable. We all saw that coming. I am not shocked but yes I am sad. Very sad.It just may become a sad reality that the international stadiums in Pakistan just become venues for FC and club cricket. The fact that the WC is 2 years away from today is even more disturbing. This almost assures that there will be no cricket here at least by then. Wonder if you guys read an articles posted a few days back on cricinfo, by the name of Karachi Symphony. It made me cry.

Amazing really that Afghanistan have earned ODI status. by the way, Ireland, Canada, Kenya and Netherlands have Qualified for WC 2011. That means no place for Scotland although they have managed to keep their ODI status alive.
I really hope cricket returns to Pak soon. It must be terrible for all local fans out there. The PCB and PAK team need to be strong at this point of time and make sure they don't allow themselves to get isolated. A good showing in the ICC WT20 and Champions Trophy could get cricket in PAK back on track. A very important tour of AUS also in line for PAK later this year.
As of now it's important for them to keep performing there is nothing they can do about the situation in the country.

Tough luck to you Pakistani's. I didn't feel to right when there was no test series in 07 in the Caribbean due to the World cup - just imagine how i'd feel as a fan with no games at all!

Basically, he's saying it's great news because no one will turn up to watch or play the games because of the high state of risk in Pakistan.
But yeah, the English really sucked there.

Mr. Freak India is not too much secured, so it will be better choice that icc should move world cup out from South asia and if suppose ICC do it than what will be your comments.
If you think that India will be securd after 2 years than it can happen in Pakistan also(not sured about that).
before making comments just think that it can hurt the feelings of Pakistanis.
ok, I know that we are not in a position to host matches but atleast don't hurt us.
Don't mind it, i just want to share my feelings Edited by Amal - 25 April 2009 at 2:46pm |

Imran Khan has called for the WC to be moved to Australia/NZ. They originally bid for it, but as usual they lost out because of the BCCI. The fact that Asia had the cup in 96 and we had it in 92, but they get it before us isn't exactly fair. Although it all comes down to money.

So do I obviously, look at the last part of what I wrote.
India is the only board in the world making money, Australia isn't doing too badly, but everyone else is disintegrating. |

One of the PCB's points is that all four countries are, to some degree, unsafe. Nothing incorrect there, but the unfortunate fact is that cricketers themselves were attacked in Pakistan, and teams simply will not tour there.
They may well have a point that the committee that took the final decision didn't have the right to do so, but do they seriously think that any committee would not have come to the same conclusion? I can well see the tournament being moved to Australia/New Zealand as a compromise and relations between Pakistan cricket and the rest of Asia plummet. |

Pakistan is doing the wrong thing here. Just how can they blame people for moving the matches out of Pakistan??
Politics and hunger for money is a real killer in the world! If this WC is moved to Aussie and the next one comes back to the sub continent and pakistan gets safer, they'll get money. If this one stays in the Sub continent, they hardly have any money to get. By the way, I can't see any country in the world becoming safer - they're only getting worse.

Yah the situation is getting worse here. even many chanels have started playing national songs. Our army is doing their best now to eliminate this menace. But i support the idea of moving world cup in Australia or newzealand but not because it is taking place in India(India is our friend)PCB wants money and this is a fact.
